Thanks! Whenever I try to play along to cds with drums there It actually throws me off beat because the drummer on the cd might be doing something different than what I am doing.

yeah, and the good thing about those play-alongs is that there are no drums recorded! :-)
It gives you this great opportunity to be very creative and free, to use what you learned and to develope new things. It`s so wonderful and it`s also so wonderful to record this with your drumming and share it with others. Because then you can show that you are a half of a band player, or you learn it then. I say "half" because it`s not with a living band, so not "full".
but overall play-alongs are something wonderful!! =)

Thank you for those playbacks Bernhard. A question though, is it me or is there a problem with the first Metal playback file? The link to download the mp3 is inactive for me.

I have all of the "Turn it up & Lay It Down" cds and they are great. The newer ones don't have a click track through out the songs and I wish they did. But they are so much fun to play with and come up with your own ideas.

Thanks, these are really great.
Bernhard, are you able to download clips off this site? I've heard that you are a mac user and I am also. When i go to the "download this to your hard-drive" it still plays in a window. I could get quick time pro (which would allow me to rip it from the internet) but it would knock me back $30 and i would have to upgrade it w/ another $30 soon.
I see that drummerkarl can download his this stuff and (childishly) I'm jealous. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and Happy New Year.

for me it works like this: go to the download button and press your RIGHT mouse button, then the little menu window opens, click on "Save as" and dowload. I don`t know if this way works also for you but actually it should.

I finally got a chance to play to some of them, and I must say awesome indeed. Especially the Jazz C'mon Now. But, I played to the rock and funk ones and they were sweet as well. I am buying the CD's and I recommed everyone to also try and get one. You will not be disappointed.
This should be in a bigger forum for more attention. Thanks for the samples Bernhard.

Especially the Jazz C'mon Now.
and now we could ask why "C`mon now" is actually soo popular. This tune was mentioned a few times and many people seem to love it (including me).
Strange or logical? Is it the tempo or the theme of the song? The mood?
I`ll record that tune soon, I love it!

The tempo is perfect, not too fast, not too slow. Plus the music is exceptionally good, and I love the 2 bar breaks at the end, combined with the tempo and adding my own musical thing in there just..awesome.
I can't wait until I get the whole CD, probably loads more good ones.

I have to agree that C'mon now is a really good tune as well. I personally like the representation that it emits and the ambiance that I get from this song. It's an adequate song to play along with for sure.

Also I wanna say that "C`mon now" shows us a thing which is actually very seldom. This tune is highly recognizeable! I mean, there are so many awesome jazz songs out there but there arenīt too many which are very well recognizeable, ALSO for people who aren`t musicians or Jazz musicians. Especially the theme is so amazing and clever made.
For example Autumn Leaves is a Jazz tune which so many people could recognize, the same goes with Joshua, fried Bananas, Blue bossa also.

I have the first two volumes of these CDs, but more is always better.

Here's the page of the guy who created the tracks. It has the links to the tracks. Great stuff!!!

I have all six and think they are fantastic. I hope he releases more, such as a faster double bass one and possibly a pop thing, straight forward song type songs if that makes sense.
edit: perhaps it would be good to have optional drum parts written out for the songs. That way your can make it up if you want but also you could read and play along, that would be great practice.

That's great. It could definitely help me out. In "C'mon now", I can follow everything except the bass solo. It throws me off a bit, what should I listen for?

Don't listen for anything. Try to keep time throughout the whole thing; for bass solos, try to use brushes or go really light (maybe on the hi-hat and cross-stick on the snare). If you keep time you should be able to hear the rhythms in time.
UPDATE!!!!
There are TWO (count 'em) new Turn it Up CD's, both Fusion, each based on a particular artist.
