Hey everyone.......I had a break at work today, so I slipped into one of the teaching rooms and warmed up playing some 4/4 rock/ gosple type stuff on this entry level kit thats been played hard over the last few years.........the playing is ok and I lay into it around the 1:45 mark and agian around 2:25, nothing too extream, typical type stuff....
So why bother to post it? I have seen a certan young drummer on this forum continue to dismiss criticism of his vids, stating that it is the camera's audio quality that make him and his drums sound so bad(maybe my paradiddle intro will give you a clue to whom i'm speaking of) I'm here to tell ya kid, the drums in my video sound just like that, and it still sounds like me playing , good and bad........
anyway, I give to you.............."Drumset El Cheapo"........comments welcome........

Thanx guys, I realize it's just straight ahead stuff, nothin' in there a zillion other rock guys couldn't do, though I have been told I have decent rolls and a killer right foot(the quads and what not in the vid were all played on the crap single pedal that came with the kit like four years ago).......I think I kinda over did it on the 6 stroke roll stuff, but, it was just a warmup, I suck at solos....lol

Good stuff man!
Fills are very clean and those rolls you do on the snare are perfect! I see what you mean about your right foot too...sounds great from where i'm sitting :)

Thanks again guys.........if anyone has any critisism of my playing or some tips, even conceptual, I'm all ears...........I looking for new ideas to breath some life in my playing. One thing that bugs me in the vid is my straight 8th note hi-hat......kinda boring. I'm kinda getting sick of the old rock 4/4 thing, if anybody has any suggestions on where to take my playing next, i would love to hear it! I wish I had a mentor or something like that, but I'm on my own here. However my reading and transcribing skills are fairly strong, so thats been a big help lately, and I've been getting into latin stuff a bit, but it will be a while before that stuff is really internalized into my playing style........anyways..........thanks, and Happy Holidays!
