Thanks. I really just wanted to learn how to do the shuffle. Having the bass line made it much easier, then playing the guitar over the bass and drums was just fun. Thanks for the listen and comment!

This kit is pretty new for me, actually this is the first time I recorded with it. I'm very happy with it so far. The 12 x 7 BP is very nice, but I haven't really found the right tuning for it to integrate like it should be. I'm pretty impressed with the maple snare that came with the kit! I'm choosing it over my regular hammered bronze BP right now. Thanks for the comment and for listening.

I really dig your groove man. The only thing that bother me a bit is the bassdrumsound. But hey that's just me. Anyway, very nice kit and good musician skills !

Very cool, especially about the bass drum sound. There is no eq on anything, just level mix - so just curiously, what would make the kick drum sound better to you (more punch, more boom, louder in mix)?
I ask because after playining all the instruments, its really hard to remove myself from the process and hear what is actually there instead of what I think is there.
Thanks for the criticism!
Any more likes or dislikes from ya'll drummers?

I'm really no pro on recording but IMO i think the kick should be a bit deeper and more boomy.
My english i too bad to describe how i feel about the the way it is now but i hope the deeper, boomy thing gives you an idea.

Ahh, very good. I'll play around with the EQ and see what happens. I really should be using 2 mics as well. Thanks again!

I have the same problem here, so I'm just telling you what I've noticed.
Sometimes the hit hat/ride groove is pushing and pulling on the spacing of the notes; sometimes too close together, sometimes too far apart. You're really getting that groove down, though, man.
As for the kit sound...I really dig it. Those drums have a really cool, earthy tone. Same goes for that ride...what kind is it? That dark sound really caught my ear. For this kind of music, I think the bass drum sounds really nice; slightly muffled, but not too punchy at the same time. The only thing I would say is that it should be brought very slightly in the mix (assuming that it's mic'd separately and that this is possible).
Good job, man!

Thanks for the replies again folks!
FunkyDrummin - I appreciate the listen and critique! This was something I put together to learn and practice the half-time shuffle. I agree with you about the hats/ride, but the thing that I notice after listening again is the inconsistant ghosting. I'll probably go back and redo the drums every couple of weeks as I improve on that groove. I did use 6 mics on the kit, so I'll take your advice and maybe bring it up a bit. Honestly though, I'm trying to get a better kick mic to get more of the pure sound instead of a manufactured sound by EQing.
As for the ride, its a Paiste Dark Energy Mark 2 (22"). I love this cymbal!
Sorry for the late reply, but I really do appreciate ya'll listening and giving feedback.
Drum on,
Brian
