Hey gents, what are your thoughts on a Chad Smith Signature Snare?
I am currently using a Pearl Effect Piccolo Steel Snare, and am looking for something a bit different.

If you search for it under the search tab you till get a ton of stuff about it. Its one of the most discussed snares on the site id say and I have only heard good things about it.

I'm not a fan of any of the Signature Snares. Only because they tend too cost a bit more just for the Signature series. Just get to a local dealer and hit things with sticks.

It produces a very snappy sound - extremely popular on Drummerworld..so definately check it out!
I was thinking about getting one myself not long ago but like Sirwill said, the price tag is a bit hefty!

tuned well, it is possibly the best snare in the sub $300 price catagory. Excellent snare, good heads, good throw off.

I paid $160-$170..can't remember
I use a genera and hazy 300....(homemade) puresound equalizer snare wires.....great crack, dry sound with just the right amount of ring....perfect snare for the $$$$$
I have a die cast hoop on top and a 3 flanged on bottom......couldn't be happier

It seems like a very interessting snare drum and we talked pretty much about it already...
Seems like a great thing for the money, makes a very full and funky, cracky sound in my opinion.
Another you should check out is the Ian Paice signature snare drum, also great for the money, cooool sound and tune safers, another good and useful feature! Go and try em...and have fun! =)
