Drums for Xmas

Ok, i've been thinking about getting some drums for a few months now, and i've finally convinced my parents to get me some for christmas. But im not sure which ones to get. I have the choice of:

Tama-swingstar
Yamaha-rydeen
Pearl-forum
Mapex-V series
Gretsch-Blackhawk EX

Now since im new to this im not really sure which would be better for a beginner. Could anyone help me out?

YAMAHA!! Seriously dude, the Yamaha Rydeen is definitely the best choice out of all of those. Great kits for such a low price.

Yamaha all the way. Definitely the best value and quality out there for the categories their products fall under.

I have to say Yamaha, not because of the others, but Yamaha makes exceptional kits at all price points. They usually end up sounding worth more than they really are.

Another vote for the Yamaha. I would definitely avoid the Gretsch and the Forum at this price point.

Definitely yamaha...I love gretsches, but the quality on the blackhawk is not good at all. Yamahas are great and the rydeen is great quality for the price...Also the pearl forum is not good at all. Stay away from those two, but go with the rydeen.

Generous of them...i never got more than socks or slacks from my parents for xmas and those were hand me downs...

But if i were in your shoes i'd ask for the Yamaha too.

By my opinion, Tama or yamaha would be great starter kits.
Go into a music store and try them yourself, that never hurts.

Go with the Gretsch-Blackhawk EX. Also try these they are killer for the bucks if you can still find one.

Ok, first of all id like to thank you guys for all your replies. However, the Yamaha Rydeen is not going to be in stock for some time so im going to go for a different drumkit. But, there is some good news too, ive been able to sell this guitar pedal i had for ages(didnt really use it) and im now able to get a better drumkit.

I now have a budget for a Pearl EX Export, is this any better than the others?.

If you could give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

To be honest, I'd still recommend the Yamaha over the Pearl Export. The Export has some 'fancy features' that make it in theory look like a better kit, but in reality it's not worth the extra money when compared to the Forum. The Rydeen, however, is an inexpensive and credible kit, check out FinnHiggin's recordings of his Rydeens over in the 'Your Playing' section and you'll see what that little kit with new heads and a good player can do. It might just be worth waiting until it is in stock, but I would avoid the Exports, for the price, they are simply not worth the money.

Before I tell you my opinion, what kinb of music do you play or whats your favorite bands. Because i bought a premier metallic cabria fusion set as my first, and have come to regret my decision. Don't buy what people tell you too, a big problem I came about was that i want bigger toms for the style i play and i may have to buy a whole new set. So make sure to buy or receive a set you will be able to play for a while. I would suggest that if you play jazz or something go for smaller sizes, but if your into rock fit the drums sizes to the genre.
