Hey Guys,
Here's my studio set up in Chicago. It's a 7 piece Mapex maple with all Sabian cymbals, DW pedals, and Evans heads.

Very nice, looks like you get down to business.
interesting placing of the gong drum (what brand is it, mapex?), most i see are on the right or way left. Actually, intresting tom placement all around! Any particular reason why you stuck that little guy in there at the floor 1 position?
Good to see someone breaking the tom positioning mold every once in a while.

It's an interesting setup; I like it. I'd actually really enjoy trying something a little different like that, just to see how it feels.
Also, what are the specs of the drums and cymbals? We want to know more than just the brand.

Very nice man, I like your ride! Yeah that setup looks very sleek, I dig your style man and how you set up your kit. It looks like it supplies your needs in the studio, how long have you been play? Have a good one!

Hey man,
Thanks for checking things out. The mounted kick drum is one I actually hand made myself. It's a 22''x18" maple shell. As far as the 8", I was messing around one day with different tom placements and was really diggin' that spot. I do a lot of paradiddle combination stuff on my toms, and it really gives a cool sound option as far as movement around the kit.
If you want to hear how it sounds, here's a link to a vid of a session from this weekend.

Nice kit man. I used to play around with tom placements, but I just couldn't make it flow with my playing...I probably didn't give it enough time :P
As for the video, great playing. You got a real natural feel happening there. Good stuff.

Truly intresting. Looks fun to play due to how different this set-up is to most drum sets. LOVE those cymbals. Saw ur video and i really like your playing, but isnt that a "different" place for your ride. Well we shouldnt complain because youre whole set-up is a bit "different" so i guess it all fits in. And dont take "different" in a bad way your set up is really cool.

Awesome kit man. I love 22" kick mounted way up there. I may do that with my kit one of these days cause I have a 22" kick right now but I want to move up to a 24" or possible a 26" (i plan on building it myself) so I can just take my 22 and mount it up like you did. What head to you have on the mounted kick?
ps. i love your playing in the video. Great flow and smoothness to the playing. I also loved the fills at the beginning of the song.

I love the gong bass and the little baby 8. Hah! The kick I'm using is 22x16. It looks like you have a PS3 head on it, which is what I use on mine... concert tom style. I love the sound. I wanted to mount my 22" up like that after I get my 24" back in service. Not sure if I will though. I'm not really show how to mount something that big!

Great playing man! I like it all around.
My only problem with anything you do is the placement of your ride. I just can't imagine playing that thing all the way up there. Is this your ideal position for it, or did you move it around to fit in toms, or what's the story?

Hey,
Thanks EVERYONE for checkin' out my gear. There have been numerous comments about my ride cymbal placement- Haha, thank you for those too. As far as where it's at, it's just comfortable for me. I feel completely relaxed when I play on it. I'm a big fan of the non-traditional setup. Every drummer's gotta find what works for them. If it's a traditional setup more power to ya brothas. Keep drummin' everyone, and do what works for you!

That setup looks awsome man. I love the fact that you have that enourmous tom just hanging there.

I'm pretty much building my own cymbal setup to be a bit like yours... I actually just ordered a Vault 16" crash off of eBay, which will break the dominant Zildjians sprayed around my kits. oh and by the way... awesome kit

Those kind of setups just plain scare me, looks so uncomfortable and difficult to play.

Very sweet set up! I like the originality, though the cymbals seem like a bit of a stretch ?
