This is a video of me playing Travelling Riverside Blues by Led Zep. Throughout the whole song I innovated everything into it the way I like to play it so I basically made the song my own. Tell me what you think.

Man, you have one hell of a Bonham influence about you which I'm not suprised about 'cos I know how much of a fan you are. Great solid playing, I'm especially diggin' that snare. All in all, good job.

Thanks im glad that you liked it. Yes and i love the sound im getting out of my snare. Yes its a early Vintage 70's Ludwig Supraphonic. Basically 'tricked out' bonham style. (6.5" X 14", remo emperor on the batter side, remo ambassador clear on the resonant side, 42 strand snare system, batter head cranked way up, snares fairly loose to give sensativity)

I liked the fill at 1:09. Classic Bonham stuff. Well done.
Your foot seems to be a little behind at times. When that happens your left hand get a little behind also. I'd focus on tightening up your time.
Overall I thought you did a good job.

Your influence is starting to show. Let it flow just a bit more. Think ahead of the song and the flow will come. Great Job.

Maybe (just maybe) i cant change your mind. Heres a few songs you might now have heard before. Take a listen to them and then see if you think the same way about bonham.
(make sure you listen to each song from beginning to end)
-In My Time of Dying
-D'yer Maker
-Since I've Been Loving You
-Out on the Tiles
-Good Times Bad Times
-Dazed and Confused
-Fool in the Rain
and how could you forget -Moby Dick
now if you could pick up live versions of any of these that would be even better.

Fool in the rain is amazing. Yea you can say that stuff about bonham and at this age some people may agree with you. But if you look back at that age in time, who else did what bonham did. Who else used the triplets? Not many. He set the foundation for the years to come.
Kinda like, Hendrix in a way. People say he wasnt truly amazing, but if you look at what he did with a guitar...well no one else attemped the stuff that he did. Thats what made him famous.
thats my 2 cents
hate it or love it.

i may get TOTALLY bashed but the reason y i cant say that bonham is as good as they make him up to be is the same reason y i hate the beatles, but i understand where your coming with. time definitly changed styles of drumming and the level that is expected, but even today we have drummers that play simple beats, that you might as well have done on a computer instead of paying someone.

So you're saying if it was capable, and zeppelin wanted to back then, they could easily have replaced bonham with a computer. i think theres something wrong with that right there. did u listen to the songs i posted

It was Bonham's use of time and SPACE that made him special. His imaginative playing, solid grooves, amazing sense of timing, and his ability to not overplay, and THE sound, were totally outside of the norm for recorded drums back then. His subtlety was what blew me away. You have got to listen to the drum take from Fool in the Rain, sit down and try to duplicate it, PERFECTLY. The man was a master, died way before his time.
Go bash the someone else....
Bonham Blasphemy isn't really called for anyway.
PDP, I listened to as much of it as I could handle waiting to load, and I think you did a good job, keep it up brother.

I allways admire peoples love for Bohnam, but what do you mean "Who else used triplets?".......um, everybody? I'm not sure what you are getting at, i mean, triplets are just a rhythm, Bonzo didn't invent them, and guys like Buddy would just dust him if it was about speed.....but thats not what it's about anyway.........

I hate to say it, but Moby Dick really bores me after a while, I find Bonzo's Montreaux waay more interesting to listen to and more pure Bonzo laying down hardcore groovage...

I agree, Moby Dick never really inspired me any (except for the opening groove and riff) and I find it boring. He does some awesome chops, but it lacks something. Not that I'm a master...or anywhere close to him. Montreaux seems to have what its missing. Whether its Page's treatment of it or it's Bonzo's, we'll never really know, but its catchy and fun to listen to.
