hmm idk, it kind of a classic, but i think the whole internal lights thing is chessy no matter what erra it is.

Bought a new kit just like that in the late 70's and sold them in 1981 when I got married to make a car payment that was due. I've carried a shoe print in the seat of my pants for the past 25 years from kicking myself since then!

$4000 for that thing? I think I still have the Ludwig catalog where I originally saw that set. I'll have to check to see what it was priced at.

Exceedingly cool. It would be neat if they could make the lights easily swappable. You could have different colors for New Years, Christmas, 4th of July, Halloween, etc. That'd be a sure crowd pleaser and get your whole band noticed.

that sounds sweeet. I did a little looking around and saw one of Travis Barkers new kits with backlights that makes it look like a giant glow stick, that was pretty cool too.

Those are cool. The only time I had seen them played is right here... the Lionel Hampton video.

Vistalites with lites......I dunno. A cool gimmick, and it would look great on stage, but I don't think I would buy them.
Cool drums nonetheless.

I like those. When I saw Primus on the Brown Album tour Brain was using colored translucent acrolite shells with what looked like a flood light shining through each one. Each piece of his kit was glowing a different color. It was great. Les had a bass with lights too, so they matched for part of the set. hahah

I played on one of these kits when they first came out! This is probably the most popular tri-color scheme Ludwig made in the Tivoli series. I don't think that the lights hold up well and I don't know that I would gig this kit as it seems to be in in excellent condition!

Cool kit but I doubt I'd buy it. Traditional kits are just more appealing to me. Anyother cool thing would be is if the lights would pulsate when the head of the drum is struck, but you wouldn't want to blind anyone ;)

Those at drummer live would have seen Chad Smith's pearl. That was one fine lighted kit.

WOW, Totally the stupidest idea ever, but holy crap i would love to play these live! You would basically be the frontman of the band with a crazy lightbrite drumset!, make sure to get matching short shorts and knee high socks!
