i won't tell you that i did something i've never done before... it's funk mixed with second line, so pretty much the stuff i did all the time being on this forum:). anyway check it out and write down what you think.

I love that second line stuff. Almost got up and started to dance....really. You have a great feel for the style. I want MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!

what kind of things do you need to practise to play second line funk? (if you dont mind me asking)
i love Zigaboo Modeliste and Bernard Purdie, pioneers in 2nd line as im sure you know, what i would give to groove like that....mmmmm....fat grooves....

:D thanks! i don't mind. actually i'm listening to Stanton Moore, Zigaboo, Billy Martin and guys like that 24/7 :). Purdie kicks ass too, but i know him only from drummerworld. i remembered his advice though. the one about being melodic (i'm trying at least) :). i generally love second line stuff, so i use to listen to all those traditional things, and blend it with some grooves i hear in the radio. that's all. well, actually Riley-Vidacovich, and Stanton's books also help :).

There is another "cat" that can get that groove. Ritchie Hayward of "LittleFeat". Love that style.
