Hi guys. Has anyone had any experience with Signature Saturation crashes? 17 and 18 inch in particular. Thanks in advance, cheers.

I tried them out on a fellow drummer's kit. The Virgil Donati Saturation crashes are very colorful and explosive cymbals, they seem to have some of the Sabian "X Factor" in them - you get a sweet sound even when you tap them with your finger.
I liked these cymbals a lot and if I changed my crashes I'd go for them. Also, I don't know how their are prices elsewhere, but over here their price is reasonable for signature gear (unlike the rip off MP Max Staxes for example.)

If it's any help I'm due to receive my 19" Saturation Crash today so I will post back tonight when I've got it and got it set up : )

Cool, thanks. Do post, I'd like to know some more :)
You think these would be good for hard rock, but also versatile enough to be used in pop/funk etc? And if anyone could compare them to for example Avedis or AA... Cheers.

They are versatile cymbals. The best the to do would be to go and try them out.

Right, I think this cymbal could easily be very very versatile, it's ace. It sounds similar to my old AAX Metal crash but it's a lot thinner. It just sounds a lot less heavy, it's very very nice. Seriously I can't describe this crash but you should try to get to somewhere to try one out, or take a chance cos I think you'll be happy, it's a lush cymbal.

try it out with a hhxplosion i think they are both great but the hhx is thinner and i think sound more full,,,, put it this way i have a 19" AAXplosion and a 19" HHxplosion and the hhx is way louder....and can be hit quitely where i think the saturation crash may struggle. check out a customs and also Avedis medium in brilliant...

really, it kinda sounds like the name, and like the name implies. I was at a gig, and a fellow drummer had the 17 and 18 i think. He had two anyways. And they sounded GREAT! They had a really full, saturated(oddly enough) sound. It was a lot different from any aa's that i've heard, had a lot more washy tone instead of a cutting presence. They were plenty loud however, so don't worry about that. They just a have a very full and rich, saturating sound.

washy, that was the word i was looking for! they're a great cymbal. i like mine a lot, but as mentioned about the HHXplosion is also an awesome crash. I have both.

I have the 16" Saturation, and I use it for everything from soft to contemporary rock. With that big, unlathed bell on it, I think it would be great for heavy metal as well. Very responsive at any level, and extremely versatile!
