I'm impressed on the drumming, i really think you could fill me in on that kind of drumming. You and me have the same taste in music. I liked the vocals altough i like higher pitched screams better. The overal recording is great, i lone the way your snare sounds (which one are you using btw?) and all the instruments are well audible. More of this stuff please !

thnx dude! my singer does pig sqeels instead of highs now...and we r going for more of a low deeep metal feel on the vocals.

heres the kit we recorded on...its my guitarists kit cos i have toms that go 12, 13,14 16 and a 22 bass...he has 8, 10, 12, 14 and a 20 bass! so we went for a differnt sound to other bands who go big to bigger to bigggggger! we used a mix of paiste and zildjian cymbals. The kit is a Yamaha birch custom and is about 15 years old!! its lursh!

we had to fiddle around loads to get the drum sound..lots of tuning and eq-ing!!! but it was worth it!

I had a quick listen last night, you can clearly see the At The Gates influence right away. Your band is pretty good and the quality of recording is astonishing. Didn't you say it cost you £1000? I'm not over keen on the vocals, I really like that All Shall Perish vocal style with a good range of sounds coming from the vocalist, I think it makes the music more interesting to listen to, but overall you lot are pretty good. I may be puttin on a metal gig for charity in my hometown (Boston in Lincolnshire) next year, if you fancy it I will contact you nearer the time (I appreciate it's a long way to go for one gig, perhaps you could sort a couple of others on the way back and do a mini tour?)

Cheers
Al

The pic of your kit has just loaded... questions - why two chinas on the same side? Also, what make is that chime? It's pretty big!!

On one song their is a reli long heavy solo guitar solo (175 bpm) ...and im on the china on it. So we used the zildjian which is brihgt and crispy and a paiste tht is dull and dark. So i go from one to the other so it goes "high, low, high, low" and gives a lush effect =]

also durning breakdowns and stuff it sounds good!

the Chime is a 9" Zil-Bel. Its not mine, its my guitarists...but its amazing!!! loudest bit of the kit :p haha

as for the gig man..we r taking o break until march..my singer is having an operation today on his knee which meens a wheel chair for him for 3 mounths..which sucks cos he cnt scream sitting down :(

but give me a message is a few mounths and we cud defo arrange suming!

an impressive drum recording no doubt .... but I can tell you right now....I must not be a 'death metal' fan...if that's what your vocalist does.........to me, that's just horrid, plus, you can't understand a word he's saying.

Anyhow.....great drumming, and musically, I think you guys are great.....the vocals...not so much.

Very tight and percise drumming, great job!

Great playing! Love the dynamic changes, adds taste instead of going flat out thru the song like so many metal bands! You guys are thight, your singer is good in the low grunt, but higher back vocals would add a nice dynamic to the vocal. Anyways, great job guys

There will be more tracks up on the myspace soon! thts just a taster!

i know deeath metal aint everyones cupa tea but its me and my band's passion and we wudnt have it any other way! =] Im lucky to have them as my band cos they r all my best mates to..which rocks to be fair! The vocals are a style tht we have chosen to do..so what if u cant understand them...they just sound epic. We have mixed so many differnt influences for every member of the band and brought it all together to make suming thats got a bit of a na edge. And we love what we do!

glad u all like my drumming!!

Just reread what you said about that kit - are you sure that's a Birch Custom? Cos the hi-tension lugs and the colour make it look more like a Recording Custom to me, which is also birch so easily confusable with the Birch Custom. I'm not sure exactly what the difference between the two is beside the hi-tension lugs.

Yes it defo is! i sed it was a recording custom and my teacher (whos kit it used to be) sed "noo its a birch custom" lol i looked onm the badge when we used it at a gig last week and it says "birch custom" its got the inside of the shells stained to! its one of the first birch customs made b4 they stopped staining the insides!

you mean the last yes? one of the last birch customs with stained inside?

I'll have to go check on the Yamaha site, that must've been some special order! Unless Yamaha did all their lines with hi-tension lugs.

Hey, I LOVEd the song. Sounded really good. How long did it take you to track it? also the vocals aren't something i am super enthused about, but i can dig it. For me it goes (in terms of Hardcore-ness)

Saosin: (www.myspace.com/saosin
Protest The Hero: (www.myspace.com/protestthehero
As I Lay Dying: (www.myspace.com/asilaydying)

CHECK THOSE GUYS OUT. ill add u to my bands myspace. were in the process of recording a 12 track cd, but were doing it ourselves. we just need to get some better mics, our bass player and i are pretty good with programs like Logic and Garage band. were gonna do tracks and run the guitars and bass/vocals right into the Mixer. Just thought i'd say i let my dad here ur song and he thought it was awesome. but definitely check those sites out man. right now Saosin is what im really into. i also listen to light stuff like sloan etc.

Take it easy man, thats a dope kit that u used. My teacher just sold his 8 piece recording customs. I have stage, there nice kits.

EDIT: Listen to Through Struggle on AILD's page!

Its over 15 years old!!! my teacher had this for like 12 years, my guita\rost bought it off him 3 years ago and my teacher bought it of a guy from a band so its over 15 years old!!! And yes the guy he bought it from had it custom made!!

its not my kit so i dnt no it inside out but from what my teacher told me its over 15 years old, its a birch custsom, its one of the few they stained the inside shells on. Its in mint condition to!! hardly any scrathes on it. my guitairst also bought another bass drum for it which he recently sold for £350!! he bought it for £200 3 years ago!! lucky monkey

You can date Yamaha drums by the serial number I think, there's a thread on here which gives details on how to date their drums. I bought my kit second hand from a guy about 10 years ago and didn't think to ask any background on the kit at the time, but when I saw that thread I dated my kit to 1987 so my current Recording Custom kit is 20 years old next year. That's kinda the reason I'm getting new Recording Custom's with YESS mounts and all that other trickery.

You see Unearth and Hatebreed on their recent UK tour? Unearth were absolutely awesome, you really should see them when you get chance.
