Hey everyone. I posted pics of my charcoal shadow Ludwig Classic Maple 4-piece kit about six months ago when i got them here:
http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15707&highlight=ludwig+charcoal
Sonically and visually, and hardware wise, they are everything i need. I'm still learning alot about tuning as i go with these drums and I've been waiting for the right time to put up vids when i captured the kit with new heads, great tuning and watchable peformances. I'm not sure i got all those thing there: the heads aren't new, this wasn't immediately after a tuning session, and these weren't performances meant for an audience, just short test videos. So with disclaimers up front and out of the way, i hope you enjoy seeing and hearing my kit, maybe i can get some better quality vids done in the future.
update: i don't have the vids up on youtube anymore. sorry.

Nice dude, nice. I love the way you move around that set. I could never play with the toms that low. Love those cymbals too. That 24'' kick sounds SUHHWEET. Do you have emperors on those toms? just wondering cause im thinking about getting them for my PDP set.

Hey ice,
The Ludwigs sounds killer. I replied to your post about your kit. I love
the look and sound of the snare.
What kind of heads are you planning on putting on them?
Now, I REALLY want a 24" kick.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I've got coated ambassadors on the tom batters, and the stock ludwig coated medium weights on the resos. I tune the toms in the 'hear comes the bride' style, (is that thirds or fifths?) generally medium-high, same tension top and bottom.
Coated amb. on snare and amb. snare side. 42 strand snare wires. I don't have a definitive way to tune the snare yet, usually have the snare side head alot higher than the batter recently though.
Coated emperor on the bass batter and coated amb. on the front on the bass drum. Thankfully i don't have to have any internal muffling with this setup, the coated front head kill some overtones, but I'm still left a big open sound. I wouldn't say the drums' sound are perfectly captured by the camera, but its a good general representation.
These drums definitely give me that Ludwig sound I was looking for creatively, so now it's just up to me to master using them :)
I just uploaded the vids to youtube so I will link them in the original post.

You'd be surprised what they would be made to sound like in a good studio if they recorded you be have the acoustic effect. That is a classic sound you are getting. Nice groove feel, too!
I did not see any mics. How did you record that?

The sound was all picked up by the digital camera. It does a nice job of capturing their voices and tone, but cuts out alot of the frequencies obviously.
