Hey everybody, I was looking at buying a 12" Wuhan China, 1. To see if I like the sound with the style of music I play, and 2. I can get it for like $10. So should what do you guys think?

its a pure, trashy china cymbal. its not very musical, in a musical sense. the twelve has a short sustain making good for accents and the like. get a larger size for deeper tones.

for the price, its the best china available.

I would play it before you buy it. I heard a 12" one that sounded like a random piece of metal. It didn't sound like a china.

The sound from cymbal to cymbal can be quite varied as was mentioned, but for the price, Wuhan simply can't be beaten.

They are nearly disposable. Buy em, beat em to death, throw em away if they crack. I have 2 that I have owned and abused for years, with no sign of wear.

Buy a couple of sizes, you will be pleased.

I have the 12" and now I think I wont live without it - pure quick chinese trashy accent sound.

Fit everywhere in any situation but I like it very much combined with my splash.

Tell me, for 10$ do you have really something to lose ?

Here it is in my setup right aside my splash...

Can't beat them. I have a 22" and 24" proto types I got from Paul Real Sales 15 or so years ago. They still sound great. Buying a Wuhanis like an Easter Egg hunt. If a store has 12, play them all and pick what sounds good. DO NOT go too thin on the bow...that is where they break. Ive had a 13 for over 10 years........

Since this thread is about Wuhans, I hope it's okay for me to talk a little about the conditions under which they're made.

Two reasons they're able to make such good-sounding cymbals for so relatively little money is that working conditions and environmental protections are much lower than they are in the US and Europe. Not to trash Wuhans (pardon the pun) and I own a few myself. There are several threads already about the environmental and social friendliness of the music manufacturing industry.

When you buy something made in a first-world country, you know it was made under some minimal regulations regarding enivonmental protection and worker rights and there will be less blood and mud on the product. I play all Zildjians, still made in the US, but I know not everyone can afford that.

My point is just understand what you're buying and how it came to find itself between your felts. Let that be as much a part of your buying decision as you are able to make it, along with price, sound, endorsers, etc. etc.

I think I'm convinced. It's time to buy an 18 incher. I'm a Zildjian guy, but I'll give these sweat-shop cymbals a try.

HAHA! 677. Too bad we didn't meet up at 666! Bizarre.

True about Walmart. We make the Chinese government and business owners wealthy and they in turn trade weapons and technology for oil with Middle Eastern nations, some of which are trying to destroy us. I think it was Karl Marx that said, "The capitalists will sell you the rope with which to hang them." Only it's us, making individual purchasing decisions, that are doing it this time.

Some Guitar Centers will also have an 18" Wuhan with 3 rivets...sounds sick!! But like Greg said....TRY THEM...they all sound different!

I went to a music store (that will remain unnamed because they suck) and they had this had to be 18 maybe 20 inch china that had rivets in it like every inch or so. I hit it and I fell in love with it. It was a Zildjian didn't get the name of it. What ever it was the guys there had it up for like way to much. They had a Gilbralter boom stand really heavy duty one for $145. I can get one from DW or PDP way cheaper than that. Anyways. I want this cymbal....Just not for $300 I can get it a lot cheaper from my "drum dealer." He can get me the fix I need for my habit....

I think I found it on there site. Its a 22" Swish Knocker Sounds better in person than on the Zildjian website....

Spend the 10 bucks it's worth it dude! As a matter of fact, for about a hundred bucks you

can buy all the available Wuhan china's 12, 14, 16 , 18. All of them! they are not the most

musical cymbal, but if it's trashy you want.........it's the cymbal for you! It's only ten bucks!

IT's worth having for what ever, you can make a trashy Hi-Hat withit coupled with a 12" splash............what ever !just go buy it!
