Hey,
I've looked over a few topics on this before but haven't really got the answer that I'm looking for. Basically I'm on a tight budget and need new Cymbals, but it seems whatever set I buy there will be good and bad points, I'm just after peoples opinions
from past experiences etc..
It seems I'll either have to get:
Sabian B8 Set
Zildjian ZBTs/ZXTs
Paiste PST 5
I know they aint the best, but it's all I can manage at the moment. Just after your thoughts on sound quality, will they crack/break and value for money.
Any info much appreciated!
Cheers!

From those choices PST5, but I would strongly suggest higher quality, if you have a budget for only thos cymbals, go used. ebay is a happy place

you can find good cymbals on ebay for a very good price...definetely look at used cymbals first because the cymbals you listed are not very good quality. So check on ebay every week and see if some new decent cymbals have gone up for sale.

well, if I had to choose one set I`d take the PST5. My friend has them and for a beginner set they are incredible. The price is very good I think...and you get a nice sound.
another possibility would be that you look at www.cymbalcellar.com or on www.ebay.com for used cymbals but which have new a better quality than PST5 etc. (as such as: Zildjian K, Sabian HHX, Zildjian A Custom, A etc.)
and before you buy a cymbal, go to a music store and test them!

Hey,
Thanks everyone for your input. Is there any danger in buying second hand cymbals from Ebay? Are they weaker, easier cracked etc? I pressume if you were to buy a good quality cymbal in the first place you would be a decent drummer, look after it and hit it correctly.

If you look on ebay, make sure that the seller also made some good pics of the product!! This is very important, so then you can see whether there are cracks etc.
also he should give you a decent description of the product he wanna sell.
Of course there are also sellers who sell bad stuff...so, keep your eyes open!
PS: Especially with Cast Bronze cymbals it`s often very good when they are used, we in Germany say "durchkneten" for this. I noticed that a used K Custom feels better to me than a new unused one.

If the previous drummer/owner took good care of it (and I'd guess that most do), then it should be ok. I have gotten used cymbals on ebay 4 times and I have 4 very nice Paistes Sigs and 2002s at a lot less than you'd pay for them new.
