The ULTIMATE DRUM EXPERIENCE!
Starclassic Bubinga Omni-Tune was designed for players who are the most exacting about sound and tuning.
Our 100% Bubinga shell offers both a powerful attack and a rich, full resonance. For faster, easier and much more precise tuning, our Omni-Tune Lug allows you to tune both top and bottom heads from the batter side. For players who work in session recording and large venue concerts where every second is critical, the Omni-Tune system is the answer.

I'm a bit confused here...isn't that just copied from Tama's website, or is there something else here that I'm not getting...?

I think hes saying he doesnt quite buy Tama's description or promotion of the kit. For whatever its worth, ive played a Tama starclassic bubinga, and i thought it sounded phenomenal. Unlike anything else I've ever played, including other Starclassics

Both heads are tuned at the same time???

No, not at the same time. You can tune both from the top. There are 2 different sized lug screws on top. Turn the large one and you tune the top head, turn the standard one to tune the reso head. You can also tune the reso from the bottom.

"Eh................."?
What? I've played one of the Bubinga omni tunes. Bubinga is an absolutely amazing wood ... so warm and smooth its ridiculous. The drums sound phenomenal. I actually own a Warwick Thumb bass, which is bubinga ... everything is so warm, yet clear and defined and just amazing sounding. I would love to get my grubby little hands on those Tamas ... I think I actually want to spend a good few bucks on postcards and postage for MD's lastest giveaway!

They're awesome drums. If you do a search you'll turn up a thread I started about them a while back when I had a chance to play them in store...

The only down side is the fact that the omni tune system makes the drum HEAVY. If you gig them, like I do. It is a small price to pay for the best sounding drums you will ever own. And, NO. I don't work for Tama, (but I should).

Hm...I'm still at a loss. What about the drums do you criticize, the sound of the drums or the Omni-Tune lugs? If the lugs, what about them the claim that they are fast or the claim that they are accurate?

I find this tuning system just awesome. An old idea was recognized. Great.
If there are more wood options, I`ll buy one one day. I`d like it by Tama with birch wood...
overall this omni-tune thing is amazing! and even bubinga sounds pretty great.

Here is an old system from Arbiter called "autotune." Just spin the head to tighten.
The huge rims are held onto the drum with pairs of metal rollers (on the early drums, nylon blocks were used later). Inside the rims are metal runners, set at an angle. One of these runners has a toothed track set into it which engages in a gear wheel, set in the tuning block.

I tried to post a pic'. It said the file was too large. It was nothin' special anyway. I'll try to find a way around it. My camera is set for the smallest size It will give. Any help?

They are without a doubt the best sounding of anything I have ever played, and I have played many, going back to Rogers and Slingy.

Bubinga is almost an unfair comparision to maple. I mean the wood is *MUCH* denser, and has much more projection and low end.
The bubinga kits I have heard eat a maple for lunch.
I read a comment that I agree with: "My 10" bubinga tom made my 13" DW sound like a toy." From an owner of both Tama omnittune and DW maple collectors.

That's funny. I sold my collectors for the bubingas. I never could get the sound I was after with the DW's. I don't miss them either.

Just beautiful! I tried out the Starclassic Performer Bubinga and the Omni-Tune Bubinga at the local store and the sound was orgasmic - lots of low-end and powerful overall sound. If I had the money and if my drumming skills were up to the kit, I would definitely go for one of the two.

I just got a set of the Starclassic Bubingas without the omni-tune rig. They are absolutely remarkable drums that sound like nothing I have ever tried before. Deep, warm, yet powerful. If you like that type of sound, and I imagine many people do not, then take a look at these kits.
