Finally! got a new snare, and am over the moon. Its a black panther 12" x 7", and it packs one hell of a punch. it really surprised me that such a little drum could deliver so much. it really is beautiful. brand new, got it for 270 bucks. 270 bucks! what an amazing price. anyway here are some pics...oh almost forgot..kit is a mapex UB...which you've probly never heard of, cause it doesnt even have 'mapex' on it, haha they are a bit ashamed of making it...joking...

10", 12" and 14" toms (clear emporor, coated g2's)
22" Bass

Cymbals
All sabian xs20's, 14 hats, 16 crash and 20 ride

very nice snare.... certainly a departure from the Chad and Vinnie snares you were considering, but mapex makes some nice snares. I think you will like it. How is the sound -- i always felt that a 12" snare is just too small (high pitched) for a main snare for my tastes.... how do you feel about the black panther?

also, is the kit new? is it a mapex?

its really not high pitched at all- it really is loud and powerfu. sorry, im not very good at discribing drum sounds, but its 'ringy' in a good way, kind of like...wat the vinnie paul might've been like. i might put a sample clip on youtube. and the kit isnt new, had it for about 3 years now

thanks...the finish on the kit is a bit boring for me now...i'd love a finish like wats on the BP...or a finish like yours.

also, i stuck some tape on it, so it gives the same sound but takes away the 'overtones' (i guess you'd call it. lol.)

Hows the sound out of that UB kit, want me to refinish it for you?? ;) It would look pretty as a virgin bass drum and two rack toms :p

Nice black panther, im thinking of buying (yet) another snare drum, and im looking at a deep 10 or 12 inch snare.
