removing my bassdrum patch

hi, i need to remove my bassdrum patch as i want a diferent sound but im not sure of the best way to aproach it, its a EQ black patch. i want to get rid of all the stickyness too. thanks

I say maybe take it off and use some GooGone (can be bought at local home improvement stores)

just peel it off? i was thinking mybe using turps to get rid of the stickyness

I thought of something if I would have to get rid of my kickpad, to use the heat of an hair blower to remove the pad then remove the glue with lighter gaz or googone.

wouldnt it just be a lot easier and less hassle to just change your head???

I posted a thread on this when i was doing thsi an some advice if you search i think,that turpine or wateva was one of suggestions. But in end i just ripped it oof,and mi double paatch coverd the stickiness:D

Why don't you just turn the head up side down? Then you beater(s) won't hit your patch...
That is what I did, and it woked pefectly...

Peel the the patch off. Take the head off of the drum and spray some paint stripper on the left over glue mess. Let that set for a few minutes and then wipe it off with paper towels. It will be a little messy and if there is a lot of glue on the head you may have to hit it with he paint stripper again. This DOES NOT damage the head. I have done this a few times for myself an otheres. You could also use plain nail polish remover but it takes a lot longer.

I know that before applying a patch you use a cotton ball, or any other type of applicator, to apply rubbing alcohol to remove dirt etc. Wouldn't doing that remove the leftover residue from the patch?

Lighter fluid will work wonders...I've used it for the glue. Just have a window open or take the head or drum outside.
