Hey I know theres 100 threads like this but i'm having such a hard time..
I have joined a progressive rock band about 2 months ago and i'm looking into buying 1 of 3 crashes- Sabian- aax studio 16'', sabian- aax stage 16'' or sabian vault 16''...

Please help..(I live in Trinidad [in the caribbean] and at gigs here they supply a crash [along with the kit and standard cymbals] and one would usually want to bring an extra crash, china etc, therefore it will almost act as my voice) I will be using it as my main crash and I want an explosive sound with nice quality sound..

Thanks alot

I would personally go with the 16" stage crash. If not that then i would choose the Studio. I consider the AAX line to be a small step up from the Vault series.

Its really your decision, but i would saythe stage crash is my personal choice.

16" AAXplosion Crash would give you that explosive sound.

Yeh I checked out the AAXplosion but for some reason I don't like the quality sound it sends out..

And thanks Class A drumer but Vault is a higher series than the AAX

Any one else?

Yeah, but Vault crashes aren't anything special (imo) and I think that's what he's getting at.

Ok so I changed my mind on the aaxplosion.. so now i'm left with two choices:
AAXplosion 16''
or
AAX Stage Crash 16'''

Is it true that the aaxplosion crash is quiet? I don't necessarily want an extremely loud cymbal, I just don't want it to be to quiet..

I'd go with the explosion. I had both (well..a 17 aaxplosion) and in comparison, the plosion had much more of a 'rounded' crash sound.

the AAXplosion is fairly loud,, i find it a little short on the sustain, i prefer the HHXplosions but thats just me,, big AAX stage crashes are lovely, 19" or 20"........

Out of the 3 that is mentioned, AAX Studio, stage or Xplosion, The stage crash would be the most versatile. The studio is a quieter cymbal and is great in the studio, The Xplosion is loud, cutting and for quick bright accents. The stage crash falls right in the middle and would suit your purpose just right. .... Also check out the AAX "dark" crash. Best sounding cymbal in the AAX line IMO.

yeah thats what i meant, i guess i didnt word it very well. I consider the sound and quality of the AAX line somewhat better than the Vault series.

Ay.. thanks guys.. I ordered the Sabian AAXplosion.. I think it will serve me well..

One more question I notice there are two different cymbals- AAX Explosion and AAXplosion the AAX Explosion label looks completely different on the cymbal.. It has the big AAX Logo and says (in smaller font) Explosion.. unlike the AAXplosion which has a logo for itself.. Are any of you familiar with the two? Are they the samething? Do they soun diferent? I ordered what I beleive is the AAXplosion but it was from amazon who got it from music123 and now when I go on music 123 I olny see the AAX Explosion....?

i believe the logo changed on the aaxplosion a few years ago i used to own both and there didnt seem to be any difference in the actual cymbal, i am pretty sure its just a change of logo through age,,, correct me if i am wrong!!!

I personally like the Sabian AAX line, I own a Stage Ride and a 16" Bright crash and I love both for rock. but the Ride can still be cool for some Jazz stuff...

but If I can choose i`d rather take the Vault crash, it has a more "traditional" sound and sounds not so synthtetik. I mean not so much how lathed metal.
I like the Vault sound, especially the Light Ride sound, oh damn, nice!
