This is a recording a did in late 2003 with my old Death Metal Band (cookie monster vocals). I have changed a lot as far as playing goes from this time. On this recording I did all blast beats using "french style" grip. Since then, I have become a lot more comfortable with the Moeller method and utilize that A LOT more now.

This statement is very true, but in Brian posehn fashion, does he growl like a Wookie?
Tery nice recording!

Thank you. I worked quite a bit before the recording to make sure those blasts were going to sound pretty clean on the recording.

I thought the instrumentals were pretty damn good, but I couldn't draw myself to listen to the whole song with the vocals that I just couldn't stand D:
The sad thing is that I don't even always hate the raspy, growling type of vocal used in death and black metal...
Though I really like all the instrumentals (drumming in particular, of course), the blasts were clean, all the pieces fit well together, and they generally sounded good.

Yea...i practiced a lot on the blasts. What I did most was just listen to a lot of the bands that use quite a bit of blasts and just get my practice pad out and go along with them. Also, I practice doing 8th note one handed blasts at a lot of different tempos. Once i do the 8th note exercises for a bit, I would change it to 8th note triplets.

Thanks for the compliments. We worked pretty hard on the music, and the singer threw some cookie monster vocals into the mix :). The vocals are hit and miss for me too, man. Weird to get used to.

like others said, nice blast beats. there was a rimshot somewhere in there that really made it interesting though for me :)

thanks for the compliments. Which rimshot were you speaking of? I seemed to do a lot of rimshots in the recordings we did. Some were intentional; some not. If it were up to me I would have redone some of the drum tracks, but we had very limited time in the studio and I had to do it in 1 to 2 takes.

Proof too much detah metal singing has dangerous results, be careful what (voice) you wish for (or emulate):

Nah, its from an Australian Comedy-Metal band, they dress up in armour and stuff made from household goods, the bassist has gauntlets made of thongs.
Atleast Chewbacca found some like-kinded people.

The vocals are WAYY too loud, and the guitars are a bit too quiet, but hard to get a perfect mix with little time to record. Great drumming though man, very clean. I like the ending of the song also, just get a new vocalist if you haven't already, hah.

hahaha. Yea, the mix was a very rough mix for this. Not a lot of time or preparation for this recording (unfortunately). As far getting a new singer, The whole band went separate ways in middle of 2004.
Look to be doing some more stuff with some of the members early next year :)
thanks for the compliments though. I really appreciate it guys!

It sounds as if the dude for Cephalic Carnage is throatin' for you guys. Pretty tight drumming, btw.
