The skies grew dark and the mighty Dwarf worked hard in his forge to craft from enchanted URU M2 the THUNDER MAKER. Yamaha maple custom absolute nouveau black sparkle, 8,10,12,rack 14 and 16 floor 22x18 bass. I can't believe how good this kit sounds I got a great deal on it and some microphones. Everything about this kit is amazing . The tuning range of this kit is so wide you can really tailor them for how you would like to sound. Setup is so easy and comfortable with Yamahas mounting hardware IMO its by far the best mounting system out there most times simplicity is best and it is simple. The bass drum an absolute cannon. I just set these up tonight so I'll update this thread soon. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Just you wait until I get my hands on you Dorn... that's a serious piece of kit, and I really liked your Premier. It's absolutely gorgeous. When you get your studio running I will request for sound clips, I really want to hear how those maple shells sound with your Istanbuls.

Congratulations on your new child. It's a healthy baby boy!

That things is an absolute monster. I love it. A finish doesn't get as classy as that Black Sparkle. Yamaha makes a wonderful kit!

I have decided over the years that Yamaha is totally relentless when it comes to quality. And they also have the most usable hardware out there. I like the fact that drums go *exactly* where you put them every time. And the hardware is not bulky like pearl, or as limited as the l arm stuff. Best of both worlds and then some.

Nice looking kit! The maple stuff sounds terrific! I agree about the kick. I tried a kit, and I was amazed at the projection.

I myself need to audition the oak kits one of these days.

Jason this is serious - I love it. This sparkle, reminds me also back to the fifties, so great looking today. Best choice.

I had also a Yamaha Maple Custom, changed it to DW, because the sizes were wrong and I had a chance to get one from the manufactury. But the quality of the tom-holders i have to say - also comparing to DW - as said before: simply the best.

Jason: try to make some pictures without flash, but many lamps, that will sparkle.....

very nice. I tried that exact kit and almost bought it I'm glad I went with the Yamahas the aluminum die cast hoops are lighter and dont focus the sound quite as much. I'm much happier with the Yamaha mounting then I would be with the Pearls also.
Bernhard I'm messing around with the setup I moved the 14 floor to the left of the kit and will be getting better pictures up soon.

My thoughts EXACTLY! I love Yamaha -- they're extremely 'clean' looking kits.

JD,
Nice looking Yammies. If you really want them to boom, try some Aquarian P2s for batter heads; serious thunder. I have them on my RTC kit (http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showpost.php?p=21181&postcount=2) and they sound amazing live. However, they are a bit thick for recording though.

Admittedly, I am not a sparkle fan...but those look fantastic! Nice set up as well. What is the small splash on the right (by your hh?) just inverted?

I played on that EXACT same kit at a guitar center near me. Unfortunately now they sold it. The bass sounded so HUGE. Beautiful sound and looks.

Us older folks >quasi sarcastic< are kind of in agreement. Sparkles are not always representative of our taste.

I have seen three "sparkle" finishes that I think are pretty tasteful. One, is the yamaha/pearl diamond burst you see here, and the other is a gold sparkle fade that yamaha makes. I also enjoy tama starclassic EFX blue sparkle fade.

My 1st kit was blue sparkle, and I am not likely to ever want that again. But a few of the new spakles/glitters aren't bad.
