First, welcome on Drummerworld forum.
Which Peace set series are looking ?
Member Masonni here is a Peace endorsee, I know that DNA and PARAGON are good set of drums. There's better on the market but they do well and have some pros & cons. I like the fact of their virgin bass drum on DNA etc...

You might find some answers in existing posts too. There are five other posts that have Peace Drums in the title.

The afore-mentioned high end Peace drums are very good. Their entry level kits are just that, entry level. The Chinese are basically making everyones entry level kits so it stands to figure that they have some darn good drum builders now. After producing thousands of drum kits you probably get pretty good at it. In the last several years the high end Peace kits have impressed me every time I see them at the NAMM show. Fit and finish, lacquer paint jobs. Very nice stuff. And welcome to Drummerworld.

I think everyone here answered the question of "is Peace any good" The answer is yes.
Now you just have to look at how much you can spend. If you have the cash for a top of the line kit, go for the Paragons. That's what I play, and for the price it doesn't get any better.
The D-N-A kits are also nice, and can stand up to touring. I used one for a few west coast tour dates last year and they sounded nice every night. It's a little less expensive as the Paragons, but I would consider them to be just as good as say a higher end, PDP kit.
The Onyx series would be much like the lower end drums that still have a lacquer finish. They looks really nice, and still sound just as good as higher end drums.
When you get into Peace's wrap finish drums, you are going more for entry level. The Demolition kits are real nice to start off with, and have better hardware than most drums of the same price.

Dont just look at peace drums. I would take a look at yamaha, they make great drums for affordable prices. But peace drums are pretty good.

Peace drums are very good drums to start off with. They'll last you a very long time and they sound great with the right heads.

I have the DNA kit in Atomic Boullion sparkle... Its a very nice kit, and quality is exceptional. Set it up with Aquarian Studio x's and the kit sings. Tunes easy and has good punch. I'd recommend it along side many higher priced kits if money means anything to your budget.

Hey oiboiluis,

Thanks alot. I'm saving up for a custom paragon in a rock config. =)
I'm trying to figure out this company. I remember first seeing them a few years ago. I only saw some lower end kits and thought they were just another cheap-chineese-made brand of drums you could find at walmart or something (exagerating). Then I saw a beautiful bebinga jazz set on here and some great looking snares on their site. They seem like they could be really nice drums. Are they just underrated?
Also, why can't I find them online?

Nick Mason of this forum, plays and endorses Peace drums. I don't think he uses the Wal-Mart line.
Their snares look interesting. It's too bad there aren't any dealers around here.

I had an opportunity recently to purchase one of their high end model jazz kits and have seriously no regrets whatsover in the decision to do so. I purchased a Peace Kahuna 9 ply bubinga jazz shell pack and they are a wonderful sounding kit and pretty beautiful to look at to boot. Good quality of shell construction/bearing edges and laquer finish. Quality of all related hardware very nice too. It's my main jazz kit for gigs and recording sessions from this point on. Great kit!.

Glad I took a chance on this relatively unknown player in the drum making world. Thanks again Noel for the heads up on their bubinga jazz size drum kit.

I'm embarassed to admit that I have an Onyx Noir (Honey Gold) set packed away in boxes. I had the good luck to pick up this kit, brand new in the box, for $250US. Knew nothing about the kit at the time but loved the look. A friend said he heard the kit sounded good and was a deal at this price. Since I'm just getting back to drums after a 50-year break, seemed to be just what I needed. Bought it, opened the boxes, checked the parts, checked bearing edges, checked for round - everything was fine. Reboxed the kit and haven't had the time to set it up. My bad. New Year resolution - go for it.
