Hey, this is a long one....

I've been searching for a whole new cymbal setup, as the cymbals I have don't really reflect the sound I'm looking for.....(at least not to my ear)

My current setup is ( don't laugh ):

Paiste 302 hats
Paiste 502 ride
Zildjian ZXT 18" Crash
Pearl 16" Crash
Sabian xs20 10" Splash
Zildjian ZBT 18" China

Now, I've only recently gotten into the whole hardware side of things, and been listening to the samples of the net, with a VERY limited amount of first hand experience, testing-wise.

I've tried out Paiste rudes ( since a massive Dave Lombardo fan ), and I really like the sound of the Sound Edge hats, and I've tried the 2002 20" ride, which I wasn't really a fan of,

but anyway, I've got about €1000, and I need to replace the hats, crashes and ride ( the splash and china can wait ),

And here's where you come in!!

Hats - pretty much sold on the Rude hats
Ride - need something thats very cutting, sharp bell and well defined ping,
Crashes - need to be powerful( kind of deep and full sounding crash if that makes sense )

Any help is appreciated, I can't really try these out so they will be ordered online...

Cheers,
Liam.

look into sabian aa metal x models. They are likely exactly what you are going for, especially for your ride. The metal x ride is amazingly powerful in its larger sizes.

If that's the case - Paiste Signature Series is what you really need:- (I have it). With 1000 pound - you can get all the below...with some change back.

(1) 14" Paiste Sound Edge Hi-Hats. (don't get New Sig Mark I Hats - doesn't suit you)

(2) 20" Paiste Signature Ride or (maybe the Mark II Ride might also suits your needs - try it).

(3) Paiste Signature 18" FULL-CRASH.

sigs is or new sigs. for the ride, if you are gonna stay with paiste. but Other than that i would shoot for Sabian for its metalness. But if you go ziljian, Z customs are great for metal and heavy rock. They set out to make 'one hell of a loud noise" and it worked.

Yeah, one hell of a raucously un-musical loud noise.

Whatever you do, stay away from Z customs. As for Paiste try out the Signature power ride, I think it fits that description pretty well.

From the sound samples I've heard (keep in mind the local stores around me don't have many METAL cymbals) Sabian's
14" HHX power hats
any HHXplosion crashes
21" the AA Metal-X ride all sound excellent.
I have Paiste cymbals and I love the Rude crashes. I have an 18" crash/ride, but if I were you I'd go with rude thins because they sound more open and full with a slightly dark sound to them (compared to a more bright, dry, extreme crash for the crash/ride). I have played a couple Rude thins. I'd say go for the Rude hats if you're going all Paiste. I am coveting the Paiste 22" Signature Dark Metal Ride atm. The sound clip sounds awesome. However, stay away from the signature power ride, I played a 20" version at Guitar Center and I wasn't too fond of it's bright tone. Check out the Paiste and Sabian websites for sound clips.
