OK, I've almost convinced myself to buy a Pro-x kit, but the curiosity remains, where do they make their shells, etc? I've searched here, and Taye's website, and they say they"make their own shells", does that mean Ray Ayotte, or whoever, actually puts them together in their basement, or does that mean they have a factory in Taiwan, SIngapore, Mexico, etc, and then assemble the components wherever the "Taye" factory is? Anyone?

They are made in Asia...Taiwan I believe. Although the quality is supposed to very high (for .50 cents an hour labour though).

You're right ! Taye (pronounce TIE) actually is a Taiwanese manufacturer and they hired Ray Ayotte for their Drum division.

A good TAYE THREAD (http://www.pearldrummersforum.com/showthread.php?t=131409)

You can call Andy at http://www.massmusic.net he will help you give a really good price or if you're really serious call directly TAYE and speak to Ray Ayotte directly if you have specific size & finish request.

It's pretty much a "customer company" just like custom drum builder do.

Hallway Etiquette

Chapter One: The Hallway and You

The hallway can be a great way to get from place to place and socialize. The hallway serves as a breeding ground for teen culture and new languages. This book was meant to inform the uneducated about hallway efficiency and safety. Learn to use this Advanced Social Speedway (A.S.S) and you will hold the key to a tardy-less school year. So, how can you properly utilize the A.S.S?

Chapter Two: Mastering the A.S.S

The important thing about the hallway is that it needs to flow properly. The A.S.S is the system that makes a hallway a pleasant passage to walk through and get to your next destination. Use the A.S.S.’s following steps to get to clss sooner:

I actually heard that if you live in Taiwan, the manufacture label reads, "Made right around the corner"

sorry before about my little paper thing, but it's nice to hear it's worth the money. Do the toms have depth to them? My biggest worry is to have flat sounding toms.

New question: at mass music could i get a taye originals with virgin bassdrum and different size snare? Do you know if they would handle that kind of custom order or if I would have to go to taye for that and spend twice as much.

Taye is made in Taiwan. Ray is a friend and he has a warhouse here in Richmond BC on the canadian west coast. The drums are shipped to him from Taiwan. He is very instrumental on the design and development of the drums. No basement factory. (o:}

Hey, just went to a place that said they have to fix taye drums all the time, so they dont sell them. Says that they are a real hassle.

Ummm, can anyone support or deny these claims? I was hoping he was going to praise Taye and their deliciously low prices, but... he clearly didn't.

Can they elaborate on the nature of the problems, what series, high-end, low-end? Without qualifying the problems they say that they have encountered, I would not be inclined to give credit to their statements. I have a Taye Studio Maple and it is absolutely perfect in every way. If you email Taye, their response time is extremely quick and very personal, excellent customer service/support. Click on the link in the signature line to view my kit if you would like.

We sell quite a bit of Taye... haven't had a single quality issue that I can recall. They have fantastic customer service and make a great product. As mentioned above, if anyone has any questions, shoot me an email (I'm pretty bad at PM's)

My local music store got a pair of Taye kits in. Except for the plastic-wrap quality heads, it's a killer kit.
