Moderator Edit:
Please use this thread to discuss drumset desiging tools such as the orginal DF KitConstructor (http://beam.to/kc2) (it's a .zip file and the instructions are in German), the Drum Works Kitbuilder (http://www.dwdrums.com/kitbuilder/), the Pearl Dream Kit Workshop (http://www.pearldrum.com/dreamkit/index.html), the Zildjian Cymbal Configurator (http://www.zildjian.com/en-US/products/configurator/), and the Sonor Drum Configrator (http://www.sq2-drumsystem.com/#).

go to my website on this link:
http://jasonhorsler.tripod.com/id10.html
scroll down to the drumset designer, click on it (to open the full size version) copy and paste into your microsoft paint then cut and paste onto another paint application and build your drumset.
here is my drumset built with this tool i made (it is to scale).

ps: it might help to increase the contrast a bit to get rid of the unavoidable bitmap fringing.

thx man .yeah there is on your keyboard there should be a button (next to the F12 key) that says 'print scrn . sysRq' if you have a german keyboard it says 'Druck - S-Abf' now when you pushed that button on your keyboard open paint or any graphic program and hit CTRL/V , or right click and paste so youll have the pic in the program and thats it now just save as jpg or such and show me what you made :D lol

Dw has a kit builder also. It is called the kitbuilder. It is in my oppinion the best tool to create a drumset. It gives many different sizes, colors, and a choice between Maple or Birch.
give the drummer some

I need a professional looking result as in Modern Drummer artist gear sections. It does not have to look like drums but the overlaps of cymbals and drums should be able to work like they do on my kit. Plain Circles and squares would be fine.

When I saw him I don't remember any small toms. Cozy Powell with Jeff Beck (2 albums) was amazing. Emerson Lake and Powell was great live too. http://www.geocities.com/onemat2000/share/CozyPowellDrumKit.jpg

Yea i enlarged it. It actually doesnt look too bad, just i did it in paint, wouldve been better in photoshop or sumthin, but i re-installed my computer. Also thanks for looking into the bigger attachment size issue it will definently help.
And on Macs i believe there is a prog called band in a box, can u create kits in this, cause i think it was u and Bernhard that were speaking of a great kit making program but it was on MACs only.

i'll try upload it as a bitmap later on. will be a bigger file but will be neater and allow for more 'working'

Its just in paint wen u want to cut and paste things other than a square u have todraw round it so i always get little white bit which erase the bass drum.

Hey, I'm not to sure if someone already posted about this but I thought I might share this with those of who may not have already seen it. It's called KITBUILDER and I found it on the DW site.
http://www.dwdrums.com/kitbuilder/
Basically it's a little Flash thingy where you can design a kit. It's pretty fun, I like it alot(it's always fun to indulge also). For those of you who don't like DW, it should still be pretty cool to check out. I found it interesting and wanted to share with you guys. Sorry if you think it's stupid(or if I'm the last one to find out about this) or something but cheers to those who found it interesting like me! haha.
Here's one I designed just so you can see what it looks like. (Ignore all the various windows around it...I had to take a screenshot of my monitor =P)
http://www.filehigh.com/serve/3927/88330.gif
Sure I'd probably never deserve a kit like this, but it's all in good fun ^_^

I thought it was a good idea to make a tread like this, where we can post pictures of different kits and setups we build in kitbuilders (my favorite is the DW kitbuilder: http://www.dwdrums.com/kitbuilder/index.htm). There is no rules, you can post ur own setup, ur dream kit or whatever you like and get comments....
I'll start out with what my dream kit would be something like :)
EDIT; that would be if I will understand how to save those kits i make in the kitbuilder...

Hey check this one out it lets you play your drums too!
http://www.pearldrum.com/dreamkit/
I came back here to see if anyone had posted the DW Kitbuilder (which they have) but this is insane. It not only lets you hit the drums as Bonzo mentioned, but it also has a sequencer to play patterns back in loops. And each drumshell is sampled, so you can hear the differences between models and sizes. Some features don't seem to work on Opera (and probably Firefox) so you may have to use the dreaded Internet Exploder™ just for this.
Quite possibly the coolest drum-tool I have ever seen online. Great find!

The "hard way"...
I started playing in 1964, love jazz, and was one of the millions greatly influenced by Buddy Rich.
Back in about 2000, I made a 3D (CAD) model of Buddy's drums. You can check out images, and even movies of this model rotating, at http://www.mikejamesjazz.com/br_drum_models.html
Yes... I had "too much time on my hands" when I did this.

Not that the DW tool isn't great (i like it better than the others out there, it seems less cluttered and such) ... but unless Mac comes out with iKit, then I say that the best way to really design your set is with pencil, paper and a compass. Because that's really the only way to make sure the set is your way, all the way.

This Thread is to show of your kits, made in some kind of Kit Builder program. It should be your kit, set up as you have it set up now.

Where do you go to make that thing?
I like the DF KC program; when I've got my kit torn down but need to work up the configuration for the next project it helps me piece stuff together on paper to see if my ideas will work, before I even start moving stuff around. Have to photoshop a few items into the program, but it's a pretty useful tool, if a bit addictive.
This is what I'm setting up in the studio (it started off symmetrical, but kinda grew from there):

Hahaha they didn't have the 14X12 rack

i'd like to say i based this off another drummer's design, but i'm pretty sure i haven't seen this setup before. before i get glares: i'm a big fan of left-side toms. i feel like when i play open, i open myself up (no pun intended) to much more potential for creativity. and sometimes i find that there can be a big disadvantage if you are only playing out to your dominant hand.
fourstring: abandoning the garibaldi setup? i reaaaaally liked how you have it set up almost exactly like his kit (with better cymbals, though). his setup is perfect for funky playing..

Hahaha they didn't have the 14X12 rack
Look again. They have 12x14 rack and floor options.
As for mine, something like Pat Keeler from the Raconteurs ludwig kit, or Gmrakich's Bradys.
I really like how Keeler runs a big ( 26" or 24") kick for the heavier stuff and a smaller (either 20" or 18") for softer stuff; he doesn't play 'double-bass' as such, just has two drums for different sound options. That's cool.
As for cymbals, I'd use my own plus a couple of extras. All Bosphorus Traditionals of course.
So left to right they'd be:
16" med crash
10" splash
17" med-thin crash
22" Med ride
18" med crash
20" heavy ride
18" china

By the way, Stanton Moore does the same type of thing as the guy you're talking about, in terms of the secondary (different sized) bass drum. His setup might give you some other inspiration.

Stanton giving me inspiration? Never!....
Do you have any idea how many times I've watched his modern approach dvd? He's responsible for me first checking out Bosphorus. Now they're all I have on my kit. He runs an 18"/20" as his main kick and a really old & beaten up 26" marching drum as a secondary kick, but out on the right, ala Dave Weckl.
I prefer the Pat Keeler/Stephen Perkins/Tim Alexander style with the extra kick in front of the left foot.

My bad sir, didn't mean to offend. Yeah, Stanton was definitely my first reason for wanting to try out Bosphorus too. Nice to see we have some common taste. I've been meaning to check his dvd out, but right now I'm VERY intent on mastering Mike Clark's advanced funk book.

Hey, I'm not offended at all. The DVD is great. I haven't studied Stanton's stuff as per out ot the book, but rather I just keep going back and picking up new stuff that I can apply to my own playing. Actually, now I think about it there's one particular groove I want to learn, so I might go watch it now and see how I go.

In champagne sparkle baby! I'm not sure about the tom sizes and I have not clue what kind of hi-hat that is (just chose it because it was a 14). I would love a 26" bass drum but in my current living-space and transportation, i wouldn't be able to have one. But 22x14 are my next favorite next to a 26. I wish they were Ludwigs too haha.

This would be ideal for me. I'm pretty close, only thing missing is the 12" china and 14" crash, and I'd have to replace my ride for a 22". I like having lots of cymbals (I consider my ideal kit to have "lots of cymbals", though I know that it's quite modest compared to what some drummers have :) )
Also, I would want to upgrade my hi-hat and splashes to Paiste Signatures.
Edit: that 12" upper left splash is supposed to be a 12" china.
...mine would look something like this.

Thanks Tuxido, It's my first mac so I'm a noob.
Drums: 1960's Ludwigs, 1975 Slingerland Snare (have it), Zebra wood stave (side snare) or 5x14 60's Supra.
Cymbals: Bosphorous: 15" New orleans hats, 24" new orleans ride, 18" Traditional Thin Crash, 20" Wide Ride, 20" Pang Thang, 12" Traditional Splash, and Finally 22 Antique flat ride.
Pretty close to getting the kit except cymbals. just have to get the 20" bass and the 16" floor and second snare. I will most likely keep it as the smaller set though.

This is me when I win the lottery. Birch, in Ringo's finish. I'm thinking Sabians for the bronze.
By the way, the hi-hat on the right seems weird, but it's supposed to be a remote hat with a cable to a pedal over next to my main hi-hat, plus those auxiliary hats are supposed to be lower than the 3 cymbals it's overlapping. But I'm probably not gonna have a kit like this in forever anyways or atleast a long time.

What the heck is Kit Constructor II?
you can't do it that way, as far as I can tell. The only way I could get it to work is to rename the new file to an already existing item (that you would never use)
That way, the name already appears in the drop-down; you just have to remember which item you replaced with your new pic.

Haha yep! http://mitglied.lycos.de/Gerulat/DD/Test.html
The site is in Dutch I think, but there's an obvious download section. Once you download it (it takes a pretty long time, it saves like hundreds of images of cymbals and drums) KEEP ALL THE FILES AND FOLDERS IN ONE FOLDER otherwise it'll get all confusing! call the folder "Kit Constructor", so you don't lose track of it.
when you want to open up the program itself, double click "StartKC", but hover the mouse over it and make sure it's the NT Command Script version, because there's two StartKC's. Once you click, a black dialog box will appear, and a few seconds later, the program will open. Then play around with the drop down menus (there's sections for cymbals, drums, pedals, etc.) and build your kit from there!
my response from another thread, hope it helps

If the tool doesn't work for you, be sure to download the full JRE from the Java website, not just the silly package they give you for web browsers.
Also, I'm new on the forums, but, through the miracle of google, I've been reading up on advice from here since last year.
And here's my result! (Awesome tool by the way)

Here is my full kit which shells are custom made by Jalapeno Drums (http://www.jalapenodrums.co.uk/index.htm). Already have the snare (13" x 5" with wooden hoops) but the two toms & bass cost around £1,500. With it is a 13x3 maple piccolo snare. Also got all the cymbals already.

Hi everyone
I was trying to get the Kit Constructor II program but the link that I've found here doesn't seem to be working. It leads me nowhere. Easy Share is gone, Crocko doesn't have the file and a couple of other pages from my country or Latinamerica aren't of any help. ΏIs Kit Constructor II still functioning or it's dead? ΏCan anyone put me in the right direction? I'm very, very interested in it so, please, if somebody can help me, I'll thank you ad eternam.
Best Regards.

I don't know if it's been asked before, but is there any sort of app for iPhones at all that anyone's knows of?
Thanks.
