My friend is wondering whether to buy the Wuhan S Series pack or the Paiste PST 5 pack. They're roughly the same price. Which one do you folks think is better?
Thanks
i would go with the pasite pst5 ive herd good things about them. The wuhan people love them and others hate them. You have to be careful with them because one will sound great and another will sould like a trash can lid in a bad way. So thats why i would go with the pasite people seem to like and they are pretty consistant.

Im thinking about buying the 16 and 18 crash pack at musiciansfriend. I mean it can't be any worse then the cheap no-name brass cymbals I have now! Plus it comes with a free 18" china!!

Hey,
i would really go for the paiste cymbals. All in all wuhan is a good producer but every cymbal sounds different. Wuhan chinas are great but hihat, ride and crash...i donīt know.
Get your hands on the paiste cymbals. They are all the same and i already played them. They are sounding very good!
Another idea would be the Sabian XS Cymbalset with an extra splash.
But Pst5 is really good ;) Better than Wuhan

Get the Paistes. You never know what you will get with Wuhan, it's better not to play that kind of lottery.

Ive played a set of the wuhan s series in store, and they didnt really impress me very much, either go with a set of UFIP b12's, these did impress me, especially for their great price, no b8 to be seen!
The S series seem to be overdone in terms of tone and they are very very thick, quite hard to sue in anything but rock and metal.

Hey,
true, if you think about buying new cymbals, go in store and test them. Perhaps you will find some great Wuhan cymbals. If you are not able to go in a music store, buy the paiste. They are good and all the same.
Itīs up to you ;)

Having owned both, I would say Paiste, because as stated before you take a chance with Wuhan, since every one is different. The Paiste's I feel would be more consistent.

I was in the same situation about a year ago. I wound up getting used cymbals on e-bay and discounts at guitar center I'm happy I did. Generally try to pay half the list price or less.

Agreed. Unless you can actually play the cymbals you will be buying, go with an established company like Paiste because you will be assured of consistent quality and sound. It will cost more, but a set of Wuhans isn't cheap either and you could be stuck with lousy cymbals.
