Great stuff, I especially liked the one handed rolls toward the beginning. Those guys must have put in some serious hours to pull off such a smooth performance, well done!
I love the sound of those snares, makes me want to throw a kevlar head on mine...

wow. that was amazing. i can't imagine how much time they put in to that, everything
seemed perfect. it's one thing to memorize the music, but then add in the choreography...
i especially liked the end when they were playing each other's snares.

I was brought up in Drum Corps and they all wear a Badge of Honor...this "Top Secret" corps are without question one the best drumlines I have ever seen...i was in awe with memories & excitement watchin them
For anyone not familiar with the personality of a Drum Corp player...they are the most dedicated musician to their instruments you will ever find, and will "Not" quit until they reach perfection because they will never settle for just 2nd best, they thrive for # 1...i even produced an instruction video in 1989 with backstickin & drum corps rudiments, because I wanted to the world to see & sell it to schools.
The other part of a Drum corps musicians are they don't play for money, stardom, fame or to massage their ego's, they play to perfection to entertain, for the love of music and to hear a hand clap at the end of their performance is a goal accomplished.
I want to add...that movie "Drumline" should have been entitled "The Marching Band" because thats what they were & thats how they played...sloppy & with no disipline or perfection in their playing...
"Drum Corps" players are insulted if you call them a marching band as the Marine Corps is if you call them Army men....hope I left you with insight & I recommend every single dummer to spend a few years in Drum Corps..it'll only better you as a musician....do not play in your school marching band unless you plan on guiding & training them to be real drummers....not to mention your drum corps friends will beat you up & call you names ...!!!!

Or soldier, although "soldier of the sea" is permissible due to the Corps history with the Navy and sailing vessels. Good analogy, and that was a fantastic performance, wish that I had grown up someplace where drum corps was available, would have loved to have been a part of it. Continuing on with performance drills and precision movement, here are some links I found to the USMC silent drill team, enjoy.

Just another example of how Bernhard has made available the greatest drum site in the world....DRUMMERWORLD is the place to be & experience every style & drum tecnique available in all formats from video, to interviews & drum charts etc...and only from the best...
Great links...back in my day in the 70's all drum corps had rifle lines in their color guard that were pretty impressive...they were as close to the USMC examples you posted...but Marines...WoW!!! is about all I can say...perfection to the tee....Lee

Did swiss, like, invent the modern drumcorp style playing. This might be a stupid question, but eh. Don't they have their own drum rudiments.

That was just incredible...I have never seen that kind of precision, not like I have watched a bunch of drum line videos! Just awesome...I have watched 5 times now, and Emailed it to boot. Just wow...
Peace!

Finally got to watch it. It was good...I was more impressed with the Bass Drum line, they were really smoking musically. It sucks that the fans are applauding for the silly stuff...when the really complicated stuff seemed overlooked or misunderstood.
Anyway, definitely pretty cool...

Did you happen to see The Norwegian Kings guard (Also called HMKG)?

Let me think about this for a second:
JoJo is from Switzerland.... the top secret drumcorps is from there.... and so is Charly Antolini (afaik).... and you also Bernhard???
Bernie.... you guys have got some serious drumming going on. It seems like the Eidgenossen are not only experts when it comes to crafting Offiziersmesser, Schweizer Käse or opening Nummernkontos.
That is a whole new perspective I gain on that country. I might be recording in Zürich later that year and I'll definitely check out some of the local drumming.

This is something that non-drummers can also appreciate. The precision and grace mixed with power is simply stunning. Their backsticking motions were perfectly clean and I even got a little nervous when they started tossing the sticks to each other. Wow!
