hi, i have a Pearl ELX drum set with Evans hydraulic drum heads on toms and Evans power center drum head on the snare. I feel that the toms have a dead, fat sound and the snare a "metallic" open sound... I need ur help choosing the best drum heads for this set knowing that i play mostly rock and blues, and i would like a slitely warm but focused sound... thx for ur help!!!

First WELCOME HERE, HAVE FUN & ENJOY YOUR STAY !
Do you have brand preference ? If not, can I recommend you Aquarian Satin finish texture coated (single ply coated unmuffled head) for all of your toms and your snare... They have definitly what you're looking for (warmth and focus). If you want just little bit more muffling though, you can go with the Studio-X coated for your toms and still stay with satin finish texture coated for your snare.
Any heads of the big three brand are good, can't go wrong. Good shopping and good luck !

Personally. I like Evans Coated G2's. They have a focused yet warm sound to them and they last longer than the other similar coated heads that other mfg's make in my opinion.

Mind drummer:
thx a lot for the tip about the aquarian but are there any Evans heads similar to th Aquarian u told me abt becoz i ct seem to find Aquarian heads anywhere in my country!!
Superlow:
I tried installing a Remo emperor (similar to the G2???) on one of the toms but still the resonnance was too much! lots of unwanted harmonics....
i was thinkin about the Evans HD dry for the snare and the EC2 clear for the toms, are these good choices ??

I was going to say coated G1 for your toms but seeing you fing G2 having too much resonance, going G1 isn't a good idea... Yeah EC2 is a good choice though and recently Evans introduce the coated verison which will bring warmth to your sound.
Now as for Aquarian, I'd say forget about my two heads proposition and look for Focus-X instead (more muffled than both I mentionned).

I use the Evans EC2's on the toms. Great heads.
For the snare, try out the Aquarian Hi-Energy

EC2s should do the job well. As far as Remo goes, you could try coated Pinstripe, or coated Powerstroke 3 or 4, which have the warmth, as well as the focus.

I have been very happy with the EC2's on my toms and you may want to try an Evens coated Genera Dry on your snare drum.

Instead of making a new thread I'll just ask my question here.
I want a bass drum head that will give a nice punch.
tom heads that will give deep tones.
snare drum head that will give a quick pop.
Also should I change the stock reso heads on my kit?

I just recently changed the stock heads on my Mapex M Birch and put on Evans G1 Clears and it made a huge difference. As far as your bass drum have you tried the coated EMAD from Evans....that baby will punch!!!! For your toms I would try the EC2's from Evans or the Coated G2's. I hope this helps you.
