(Note: posted this in the DC thread but wanted to post her also to get some input from those that might not read the Carey thread :))
If you go to his main site ( http://www.dannycarey.org/page2.html ) Technology>Present, what is that roll he does on his snare? Just a single roll with accents?

Yea thats the answer I've gotten from everyone that has replied. Thanks to all who have/will reply. This is something I'm gonna be working on for a while, so hard to replicate the quality and clarity of his strokes :)
Danny Carey doesn't seem to like to talk about the techniques he uses, I have a feeling there's more to his rolls than just single stroke or double stroke.
Anyways, I have a different way of playing that roll that's based in threes instead of fours. I think it's less confusing.
It's basically using the left hand to diddle over and over again, while the right hand has more room to play around. The a basic roll using this is: llrllrllrllrllrllrllr. All it is, is a diddle, and a single stroke. It's a double stroke, single stroke mix. Anyways, you can use this in snare patterns to add some easy, yet fast triplet phrases.
Anyways, back to Danny Carey. I think he uses this a bit, and I think he uses it in songs like Pushit, where under the music, it sounds like he is doing a single handed roll with cymbals over it, but he's really just doing that pattern with one hand on the cymbals, and one on the snare.
I think that roll on DannyCarey.org is easier to do this way too (might feel weird to some people). Might wanna try that roll this way:
Tri Po La
R l l r l l r l l R l l r l l R l l r l l R L
L r r l r r l r r L r r l r r L r r l r r L R
The single stroke hand (R on the first example, L on the second) will be playing triplets, and the diddle hand is just bounces)
Anyone know if Danny Carey has ever admited to using Moeller? Like I said before he doesn't talk about his techniques often, but that roll could also be Moeller as well.

Are you referring to the 7:14 mark in Pushit? I've always enjoyed that part :) Thank you very much for the input!

I think that's the right sticking.

Ok I just stumbled upon a great clip of Danny live @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RDm9Hfgn0k
He performs the roll, without accents, at the 2:51 mark. The roll being very short and me being the novice drummer I am I still can't say for 100% certain whether it is simply a relaxed double stroke roll or not. I just haven't seen the double performed live enough.
