Got a question on the Brady: are the Brady kits made up of plys, or are they solid shell?
Either way, they have some amazing grain!

Brady a Jarrah (sp?) Very hard wood, 4 or so more than American rock maple. The shells are very thin.
All the Pork Pie are maple except for the obvious one :^ )
The snare with the red kit is solid white ash.
Brady snare is sheoak wood verticle block.

The Trick Pedals are great. I really notice how good they feel when I am playing double kick. Butter smooth. I didn't like the beaters they came with at first but after trying others beaters, I gave the original ones a second try and liked them...go figure. As far as worth the money, I got the pair for 500.00 so that I guess is not to bad.

I am endorsed by Pork Pie and Brady. Prices are not really a topic I can get into. The natural finish with the gold lugs is the old kit, 1998. I also have a 17 piece blue glass kit that is in LA for when I work out there..I'll try to find a pic. All the rest of the kits are in the last 2 1/2 years I think. The DW fell in my lap about two months ago. Also have a Roland td12 and a Slingerland Expresso Cocktail kit.

...Very nice Greg.

Is that red 14"floor tom a Fibes? it looks like it has Fibes lugs. If so does that mean that you also have a Fibes kit hiding with your other spares?

I have three DW kits, and have always felt a little bit guilty about owning two more kits than I reall need. I would like to thank you for wiping that guilt away. Now I can go out and buy that fourth kit.

Once again, that is a very nice collection you have.

Gig kit is 8 10 12 14 16 22 and snare. Sometime I will go 10 12 13 14 16, and sometimes I will not uhe the 16. Basic cymbal set up in 8 or 10 splash, 14 16 17 crash, 20 or 22 ride and 14 hats.
The pix showed everything drum wise for insurance. I have some other snares, but only posted pix of the ones with the kits.

If you go to the www.arminta.net and listen to Forged in the Fire, you will hear lots o toms. The whole song is a tom pattern, never get anywhere near the snare, and you can hear my 42" Paiste symphonic gong. Also the toms are very out fromt in Lullabies.
As far as Celtic music, it fun. We have about 100 working songs, some traditional pub stuff, originals, and some sorta normal covers. We do about 100-125 shows a year.

Good for you. Do you have any other recordings of your drumming, so i can see this experience play out? like any solo's or just heavier rock or classic rock stuff (zeppelin on your Bonzo kit?)

Most of what I recorded in LA is on tape and I am computarded and don't know how to put it on a CD then on the web happen. Celtic isn't really my "thing" either but it is fun to try different stuff. The last CD I did with ARMINTA (12 song) has so harder rocking stuff. Also recorded another CD with them about two weeks ago. That has a nice little solo so in about three months, I will find out how to load it. I used the Brady kit on that song.

What's up Greg? Carl here from Noblesville. Keith Moon still sucks. LOL Hey, I was sitting around yesterday and came up with a guesstimate of what I have wrapped up in drums/percussion. Using my trusty calculator, I came up with a 17,000-18,000 figure. If you don't mind my asking, how much do you think you have wrapped up in drums/percussion? Kinda scary to think about it isn't it. I wonder if I'm in the top 5 on this board. If someone purchased one of those exclusive(30 only) Neil Peart kits they are getting ready to roll out that would be $30,000 right off the bat. Talk to you later.

What my stuff is worth and what I PAID are two very different numbers. My stuff is close to $65,000. Retail on the Brady alone is over $10K. I have deals with Pork Pie & Brady and get everything direct from them. The DW kit was payment for a recording session. (Very long, long story) I forgot that kit....add $8800.00

What a decadant display of capitalism at it's best....!

"GM has announced he is adding a wing on to his house to display his ever-expanding drum collection. The local Guitar Center has written in protest that he has more in stock than they do.....film at 11"

That is just an amazing collection. It's like having a selection of the finest automobiles like Jay Leno.

I'd hate to pick favorites, but I think the Brady would win it for me. The blue piggy looks stunning as well.

Nice stuff, for one of more-than-modest income... ;)

Hey Greg, Isn't it an amazingly different reaction over here as opposed to...

For those who don't know, Greg was once on a kind of evil forum being drug into an unrelated argument, when the subject of his drums came up. For two days everybody on that forum called him the worst kind of liar there was, until the pics were uploaded. Then he became their god.

The war started was among the most celebrated in drum forum history, and actually got some people thinking about their behavior. But since the day his pics arrived, that particular forum has been much calmer than it once was.

The power of custom drums is an amazing thing.

Ah! It all makes sense now Matt. I remember you messaging me about the pictures a little while ago to get them uploaded onto the other site, or something along those lines. I can see clearly now the rain has gone. I am, as always, increasingly envious of your rather, shall we say, superfluous collection of drums.

You can have it for 2750.00, that is half dealer cost and it is new. Will throw in 9000 cymbal boom with tom mount and Elite Air hard shell case with wheels for 24 kick.

Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor. Holy smokes, I don't think I've seen any post with that many kits. Scared me even more when you said you have reserves. Just the ones in this post are enough for each day of the week. Nice kits, and ya short of the left tom over the bass drum and no gong drum that's pretty much a Neil Peart kit right there. Happy playing!

Thanks. That IS a big complimnt. When you play a larger kit most of the battle is comfort and not having to spend more energy. All my kits set up pretty much the same, and I add and subtract as needed.

Do you know how much you spent on all that?

Cherry is darker sounding and very warm. Still has a lot of crack to it though.

That is one HELL of an endorsement for the Pork Pie throne. It's a rare constant in every photo. That, and the little statue to the left.

It seems all the setups have the same background (except the long gone DW). Plus, through my powers of observation, it seems apparent that you set up several of the kits twice in order to get a front and back pose. Incredibly tedious work. Only drums can make me do the same thing over and over with no decline in enthusiasm. Perhaps the same is true for you?

Just curious, have you ever had a client for whom you designed a music themed space? I think it would be great fun to combine your two passions, ya know with back-lit Paistes all over the wall, or a collection of bass drum reso heads set up in a collage... Cool stuff.

I have used ebony heads of different sizes against a cobalt blue wall/background before. Came out very cool. It only took about 5 minutes per kit to flip them around to get the reverse shot. We drummers are sickos.

Greg has always had a lot of kits. Being his younger brother, I have been fortunate enough to have been caretaker (and user) of several kits in my earlier days, since he did not always have room for all of his equipment. I have ever since had bouts of "drum mania" in which a strong desire to start drumming again creeps over me. After stumbling upon this site and Greg's drums (I did not realize there were so many!) I am feeling the urge again.

Knowing Greg, the drums in the photos are probably long gone and replaced with even nicer stuff. Too many drums, too little time........or something like that.

I would like a kit, but I dont know where I would put it. I already have bass equipment and 7 saxophones sprinkled throughout the house!

I have decided that if you have something to store out on the left coast, I could park out in the driveway instead of the garage. Let me know. The more I think about it, the better I like the idea.
