Feast your eyes!
7-piece Custom Pork Pie Maple in Silver Sparkle to Blue Sparkle fade high-gloss laquer.
Toms:
7x8
8x10
9x12
12x14
14x16

7x14 snare
20x20 kick

I had another Pork Pie on special order, but was being driven slowly insane by the wait. I got this on ebay, like new condition, and cancelled my other order.

On a side note, I am now the poorest person on this forum and would appreciate any donations that you can spare.

Who needs custom orders when you can get something like that used? Awesome, I just adore that finish. Those drums really are great great drums. If you see a very small European car driving away leaving you for dust, you've had them nicked by me!

Hey Karl.
I HAD a Roland...
I had to sell it because it just wasn't the same as good old acoustic drums.
I like your new kit, by the way.

Whoa great kit! Great sizes, to I would've prefered ab 22x18" kick, I simply dig that finish! How much did you pay? Also, how was your order in the first place, and how much would that've costed you?

Right now I've got a Paiste Signature full ride 21"
and Zildjian 15" New Beat hats. I'm basically starting all over with this kit, and still have to buy some tom stands, crash and splash cymbals, which could take a while.

The cost for my original 5 piece order was about 900 less than what I got this for.
I had ordered the exact same snare, 12, 14 and 16" toms, and a 20x22 kick in a satin finish. This high-gloss laquer finish adds to the cost significantly over the satin, plus I got 2 drums that I would have probably added on later anyway. The only thing I had to sacrafice was 2 inches on the kick.

I decided to just throw the hardware on the Guitar Center Card. The mounts fit DW hardware, I wonder if I can find some tom stands that are cheaper with the same mount size....anyone know?

Well, the guy I bought the drums from is sponsored by Yamaha. Appearently he is fabulously wealthy and has like 20 kits. Those Yammies are his. I WISH i could help you. If you ever want to hear sound files of Pork Pies go to indoorstorm.com. You probably knew that.

Very nice custom set! The color isn't my cup of tea, but it is well done and striking and I can see why many others like it.

What do Pork Pies sound like? How do they compare to other custom drum sets?

Pork Pies are very resonant, and they are made with a different number of plies depending on the size of the drum.
I can describe my kit as sounding very "fat". They are the best sounding maple customs I have ever played (or heard).

I almost had a trade for a new 6 piece exotic DW...but I bailed out like 10 minutes after I posted it my kit...couldn't go through with it.

So, do you think the DW sounds better than the Pork Pie? Not criticizing, by the way, just asking.

No gong drum for me. I actually ordered a five piece kit (1 tom up, 2 toms down) from Bill at Pork Pie. Only 14 more weeks to go. Sigh....
