I couldn't agree with you anymore. I use to think Dixon is just like Taype, Pacific or Peace, but it's actually quite good. I just brought a 5.5 x 14 Dixon snare for $360 Euro...about US $280 (Birch + Walnut) IT's AWESOME! I had to carry it back from Germany, but it was worth it! I really wonder why it's so hard to find Dixon snares or drum in both US and Canada.

Well, most people in North America have a bad taste in their mouth when it comes to Dixon. Cheap hardware, crappy "Duke by Dixon" kits, and the like. What people don't realize is Dixon is HUGE overseas. They have fantastic high quality maple kits, great hardware for the money, and a nice share in the market overseas.

If they tried to rebuild their image here in North America they might be a bit more successful.

What Taye kit are you playing on that you think they're cheap drums? lol

well..actually I was referring to the Studio Maple that I use to own...it's not a cheap set..quite expensive actually, but really doesn't sound that great. May be I just like Gretsch sound more.

You're kidding right? My studio maple sounds absolutely amazing. I've played on a lot of kits, and make my own stuff these days and I still love it.

I guess it's really up to the person that's playing. For me, Dixon is great, Tama is great, Pork pie is great, but I really didn't like the sound of Taye drums.
