Well after 10 long weeks of waiting the Zep set finally came in. Woo Hoo! Fresh out of the boxes and set up for the pics. I haven't tuned them up yet, but the looks alone blow me away. This thing is awesome just to sit behind. Unfortunately I won't have a chance to play them this weekend, but I will get them tuned up Sunday. I got them the way they come stock. Heavy clear heads on the toms, and bass batter, the snare came with the coated medium. The bass heads look like remo power stroke 3s, they have the damping ring around the edge, I don't know what Ludwig calls their version.

I didn't know that Ludwig made that kind of finish. It's great though. Very eye catching! But we need specs for drums/cymbals. But if my eyes serve me right its almost the exact same as Bonzo's right?
Great kit again, have fun pounding the paint off the walls!
Cheers..

Beautiful kit. Purple sparkle rocks. I run a P3 batter and ebony Ambassador with HOLZ port reso. on my 26x14 Luddy so I know exactly what your kick sounds like. Enter the land of the big boom.

Yep, its a Zep set. Bonham used different tom sizes and stuff over the years, but this is the shell pack sold by Ludwig as the Zep set. You can get these things in any color offered for the classics on the Ludwig website. I love the color, its different and stands out.

Consolodated Freightways is just a trucking company. Conn Selmer is the company that owns Ludwig, kinda like GM owns Chevy, Pontiac and Buick.

Yes the supra is new, it was part of the Zep set shell pack.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. Yes I love this set. Still can't stop staring at it. Still haven't had a chance to play it as a set yet, seating and tuning isn't finished.

Congrats on the Ludwigs, man they are sweet!
I'm a Ludwig man myself and your set is stunning. When I got both of my kits, I ended up taking off the stock heads that come with the kit because I didn't care for the sound of them, plus I use Evans heads. At the time when I bought mine they only came with the clear heavy (toms), clear power collar (kick) and the stock Ludwig front kick head. Now when you order a new kit from Ludwig, you can get silver dots (which would've been my choice if i had the option).
Anyways, best of luck with the kit...the first song you'll have to jam out to is "Good Times Bad Times" (and we'll need more cowbell too!).

Very sweet kit! I have the same kit but in green sparkle. Isn't that 26" bass drum awesome! Did your bass drum come with the power collar heads? I also have the cymbal arm on the bass drum just like yours, I think it is really comfortable. What I did with my cymbal arm is I put a memory lock on it. The actual arm is the same size as your floor tom legs. Get a memory lock for your floor tom legs and it helps support the cymbal arm and it keeps it from moving from side to side.

O man i dont know what to say. I love this kit. Love the set up, love the sizes, love the cymbals, love every inch of that picture
You have the whole bonham spew goin here...everything down the ching ring...i love it....just completley love it...now to complete the whole bonham set up u have is to move ure cowbell from your bass over behind your floor toms and get a vintage ludwig one. My school has the same model bonham used and its totaly vintage but we dont use it and it sits in the cabinet....i think im just going to take it because its so nice.

Not quite, I'll never own a 38" gong, or the tympanis. I love the sound of these big drums, and the 2002s. I love the classic look of the setup. Yes, I chose the Zep set and 2002s, but Bonzo I'm not. I may never be as good, but this is my dream set. I prefer to have my cowbell mounted on the bass hoop, for me it fits in that spot and is accessible and out of the way at the same time, if that makes sense.

It was $1930 for the shell pack, plus around $45 for shipping insurance. It came with the supraphonic snare, and a snare stand for the rack tom. Music123 sold me the cymbal arm, Ludwig L-1372($56). Any local Ludwig dealer can order one.

ya i decided to go with the Ludwig Accent Guitar Solo zep kit. I gave it a test run expecting it to be not that great but when i got it set up and started whaling away black dog on it, suprisingly i loved it. The sound on the toms are soo warm. Especially the thunderous 18 floor tom. And i also loved the 26" kick it has. So powerfull. Alot better than expected. Im picking it up this friday. I got it in the natural maple finish. Looks sooooo beautiful. It even comes with the vintage ludwig style front head and i cant wait to get it set up in my backyard for a photo shoot for this site. I decided on this kit because on a couple terms. 1. im only 16. Im starting to drive and im getting my own car soon and right now i dont have 2 grand to put towards a ludwig maple. I would love it and of course it would be the real deal but im goin to be out of a job in a few weeks anyway because i work at a garden nursey and things are slowing down so i wouldnt be able to save anymore money easily. 2. I will be going away to college in less than 2 years. I dont want to buy a really expensive kit and find out i cant keep it when college comes around
I decided to wait on the classic maple until college is through and i have steady money comming in.
but anyways heres the PM:
Well, I wanted mine mounted in the center of the shell, Ludwig now only offers right/left far/near. If you look as pcmckay's green sparkle kit and then mine you'll see where his is mounted in relation to mine. First I measured between the lugs and got the center (front 2 lugs and back 2 lugs) then I drew a line with a china marker(grease pencil, it wipes off easy) through each of the center marks. Then i found the center of the depth on that line. The bass is 14" deep, so the center was 7". I made a little mark there. I measured the distance on the mount holes(from the center of one to the center of the other) and centered those holes on each side of the 7" mark on the line drawn across the center. I used a nail and a hammer and made starter markes so the drill bit wouldn't mess up and slip. I used a small bit first the went up to the bit the size of the shank on the mount bracket. Make sure you double and triple check your measurements before you drill. It was that easy.

Is that all Maple?? I saw one at Musiciansfriend for like $1200 nut I think it's made from phillipine mahogany or something and not maple which would defeat the whole purpose would it not? That is a gorgeous kit.Pretty sure yours is Maple if you paid $2k for it.

Very cool-I saw the same Bonham set up at my music store yesterday, but in Acrylic Orange. (no cymbals) I sat down and played a quick fill on it, and was scared at the amount of sound it put out. (everyone stopped what they were doing, and turned to look). Man, that 26" kick sounds like thunder!!
