Do you think that Terry Bozzio's drum set is the bigest drum set around?

i'd think so. i wonder if he holds a world record for it. but anyone could put 1,234 drums

on a kit if they really wanted to, you know? (if they were so inclined to go that far to say

they have the biggest kit)

i wonder if he holds a world record for it.

So far I think the one that holds the record is this one:

""""Drummer Michael McNeil of Troy, Missouri, owned a drum set that he called "Everything Plus The Kitchen Sink". This amazing drum kit consisted of 105 playable pieces, including a kitchen sink! The sink was the only "gimmick" item on the entire set; everything else was authentic and playable and included: 7 bass drums, 19 tom toms, 3 snare drums, 8 octabans, 2 timbales, 4 electronic drums, 25 cymbals, 16 bells and blocks, 20 various percussion items and 1 kitchen sink, all mounted on 61 pieces of hardware!

World's Largest Drum Set?Michael had been amassing the set for nearly 10 years and purchased everything from Drum Headquarters. There were 37 Tama drums (and 47 pieces of Tama hardware), 25 Paiste cymbals and sounds, 16 LP items, 6 Kill On Command bass drums, 21 various brand pieces and all the drums were equipped with 39 Attack drumheads.

The kit was on display at Drum Headquarters from November 3-6, 1994, in honor of International Drum Month and attracted about 800 curiosity seekers during the four days. The event was covered by KSDK-TV Channel 5, KMOV-TV Channel 4 and in an article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

In the contest to guess the retail list price of the set, the correct answer was $36,875 and the winner of the Tama Iron Cobra pedal was Dave Benson who guessed $36,781! And in the contest to guess the weight of the set, the correct answer was 980 pounds and the winner of the 16" Paiste Sound Formula cymbal was Jim Laverty with a guess of 982 pounds. If you plan on going to the Alton Belle, take Dave or Jim with you!

Michael hoped that his set would break the record of 81 pieces as published in the 1993 edition of the Guinness Book of Records. He had informed Guinness two months in advance, as required by the publisher, but he was not notified until a month after the event that a New York drummer had broken the record in 1990 with a 112 piece set that has not yet been printed! The publisher did not give any reason as to why this larger set was not included in the 1993 edition of the book.

The tragedy is that Michael actually owned more pieces, but he chose not to include them since they did not truly fit into the set!

If you didn’t get a chance to see Michael’s incredible drum set, you can tell from the picture here that it was not just thrown together to break a record. It is well-thought out and set up to be playable and matched by color and brands. We are sure that if anyone had a bigger set it was not this cool!

Congratulations, Michael! You are one of a kind!""""

Makes me wonder if he has to slightly stand to reach some of the toms.

Yeah that one guy's kit is set up like a typical drummers, and to me clearly looks smaller than Bozzio's. Bozzio's kit is set up like a organ player. Either kit looks like a boat load of fun to play on though.

Gee Wiz!!!!!!! And I used to think that Neil Peart's kit he used in the 70's and 80's was big.

that must be a nightmare to tune, set up.. i really cant see how that many drums would be benificial unless your doing some type of like call and response solo, where your battleing yourself.. but still its a stretch dont you think ?

Your right about how Bozzios is set up.

IN an interview he says he is more of a percussionist than a drummer. this satement is true when you watch his playing.

It's strange as its also quite melodic as well.

tuning bozzios toms must be a nightmare.... just that left bank on the top picture would take all day.....

Whats worse is that they are all harmonically tuned! You think tuning drums to a normal pitch is difficult!!!
