It seem TAMA is ready to launch new products & new finish, this include the awesome "warlord" series snare drum and the new Imperialstar which will replace the Swingstar and walk into the trace of PEARL because instead of being phil. mahogany shell they'll be poplar...

More here (http://www.tama.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1993&PN=1)

EDIT: Link doesn't work anymore since the TAMA forum moderator deleted the TAMA dealer thread :(

When I'll get the email from that TAMA dealer, I'll post the info here.

I don't like those... the lugs are too busy. I'm a simplistic guy though, I guess.

Me gusta mucho. Id rather have a burst from blue/green to natural like the DW finish instead of the black to natural.

The first one pictured is the bell brass one which is price listed at 2600$ (ESP), the others are listed less than a 1000 $...

That first one looks gorgeous. But spendy! The "busy" lugs work if the drum has an overall antiqued look.

once again for my arguement... They woulnt use b8 to make a snare drum (bell brass is b20 bronze) But i am Really likeing these snares Awsome stuff!! might have to make a investment...

Tama tries to get some money from the World of Warcraft players I guess.
Why don't they replace that badge in the middle with this one:

6500.00 Dollars. Me thinks I would spend it on custom goods like Maryland Drum Company.
Thats a lot of foo foo for nothing as far as I'm concerned. What else can you show us from Musikmesse Afro??

I think the Warlord set looks really great, but that is mainly because I am into fantasy books and movies, so I like the 'overdone' style with all the details and the darker colors. But, I think in a few years I would be bored by it's look. So even if I had the money to spend on a drumkit I wouldn't buy this one.

omfg, in my opinion these are the nicest drums you can buy....but they're so expensive, i would die to have them, especially the snares

"Best bang for your buck" and "SJC" should never go in the same sentence together. Epiarch seems to be the best bang for your buck now that Conaways out.

My friend just bought one of those new B/B Starclassics in America, and I have to say, it may be one of the nicest kits ive ever heard. PERFECT live sound. The Warlord snares look and sound awesome though.

How would you describe the sound of the drum, say in relation to 100% birch shells? How much change in tone, sustain, attack (, ...etc) is there?

I have a B/B kit and compared to the all-birch version I´d describe the sound as fuller, warmer, more low end (the lows are just beautifull, full and growling), more sustain & overall tone but a similar pronounced attack. Like a very good birch kit on steroids. These are outstanding drums. The bass drum (18x22) is absolute killer. One of the best bass drum sounds I´ve heard. Also, the kit has a certain "sameness" of sound. Like all the drums feel as they belong together. A very musical kit.

the only thing that i found a little weird is that the b/b kit with the 24in kick was a paint whereas the configuration with the 20in kick was wrapped. hopefully we will get another configuration will be coming soon.
