i'll say it again, istanbul agop sultan, very thin.

i've had mine for about a year, and i love it. it has a great mix of brightness and warmth, smoothness and brash, quickness and whooooosh. not a ride, however.

i am firmly in the wuhan camp when it comes to chinas. they sound amazing and just happen to be the cheapest. I have an 18" and if it ever cracks, i would buy one the same day to replace it.

I've got a Sabian AA Fast China, not too thick, not too thin. Very versitile cymbal. Great for all kinds of music.

id say wuhan. for the price, theres no one that can beat them. plus they sound like what a china should. if you want more of a crash sound, id say the fast china because i think it sounds more like a crash and is more versitile

i just recently read in this forum that the sabian paragon 19" china is so sweet sounding. I heard it from like 2 or 3 people so if this is true you should go down to guitar center or where ever and give it a try to see if you like it

yeah, the paragon china is really good. its kinda expensive though, and i find it very trashy, like a wuhan

Neil Peart used a Wuhan china for years until Sabian & Neil created the Paragon series. My favorite china is the Zildjian 18" A Custom China...it's perfect for me. I've actually had a Wuhan a few years ago, but it cracked on me within the first couple weeks so I sent it back and got something else.

My 16" Wu has served me well for over 3 years...It makes my bass player wince when I punch it, but to me it is the epitome of what a China should sound like...Dirty, and brash, with fast decay.

I went to the local drum supply the other night to see (rather, hear) what all the hype was about over the 19" Paragon Chinese and walked out of the store 200 $ lighter with a new Chinese tucked under one arm. This is the best china I have ever heard and it was worth every penny !

hmm, I think I might get me a Wuhan. I still only have a horrible ZXT china, which costs about three times as much.

I think that the zildjian oriental is a weaker china. Mine cracked after about 5 weeks of light playing. Its true that your sopposed to invert chinas so you hit that little hill instead of the edge, correct?

thumper

Yeah, if you play them "uninverted" you stand a good chance of cracking the cymbal along the flange , or, at the very least, shredding your sticks all to hell....also, you have to tilt the playing surface a bit more than normal so that you aren't hitting directly on the edge, like you would on a crash cymbal. (which is bad technique too, I know:)) I like to tighten my (Wuhan) China down a bit more than with my other cymbals too, so that it gives out the nice "PAH" sound a China should produce, without flopping all over the place.

there are a lot of people that play their china's vertical -- inverted pointing toward them. I saw the old drummer for godsmack (not shannon larkin.... his name escapes me at the moment) and he played his china completely flat -- yes still inverted. I tried this and it works well for me. I have my wuhan completely flat and low -- sitting below a crash -- and it makes it really easy to hit and ride on.

wuhan all the way! I was down at a guitar center on my holidays, picked up a 12 inch on the way out, and i have loved it ever since! I heard rumors ''oh, they crack in 2 weeks'' and all that hype. Well, ive had it for almost a year now, no crack, and still sounds great! For 12bucks, you can't go wrong... can you???? But for my next china, im thinking of getting a 19 inch Carmine Appice CHINESE!!!! Great price, and great cymbal!!!!

(btw, i must have good technic, i still have a solor crash ride on my kit thats lasted me a year and a half!)

Mhhhh, here are three Turkish chinas/trash crash which I would prefer:

- Istanbul Agop Siganture China/Pang
- Bosphorus Traditional China
- my favourite: Bosphorus Stanton Moore Trash Crash (killer sound in my opinion)

for soundclips go to www.cymbalsonly.com
Sorry that I always recommend this store but it is simply amazing! :-)

another one I`d like would be the Sabian HHX China.

I bought an 18" wuhan on musicians friend for about $50. I can't say that im please with it. It sounds tinny. Guess thats what you get if you spend $50 on a cymbal. If i was you i would buy a paiste rude china, hhx china, aax china or another zildjian oriental or an A custom. You should go to your local guitar center and try them out yourself. Or go to the the manufactures website and hear them.
