Hello everyone.
After thirteen weeks of waiting, My Constantinople 20" Medium Ride is home. But that is ok because I got quite the discount on it.
I decided to take my whole set outside to give the ride a proper welcome. As you can see, the Constantinople stands out a bit in the light. There will be a full review with better photos in the Cymbal section but here is a preview. I think I am in love.

The Drums
Gretsch Catalina Birch (setup as a four piece)
14 by 5 Ludwig Supraphonic Handhammered Brass
The Cymbals - All Zildjian
13" K Mastersound Hi-hats
18" K Custom Session Crash
18" K Medium-Thin Ride (not setup)
20" K Custom Dark Ride
20" Constantinople Medium Ride *new*

Hey man, awesome kit. I tried to use the same idea of cheap (affordable/bargain drumset) with a high end set of cymbals. Similar to your kit.

Question: i think i saw a different forum somewhere with your kit that gave the specs, but would you mind telling me what heads your using. I'm looking at which aquarians to buy, but can't decide. I want coated on the toms (like you), and heads that are fairly durable.

Could you also give a brief description of the sound from these heads.

Thanks ---- way cool kit

I'm using Coated Response 2s on my toms. I can't give too much of an opinion on them because I haven't switched heads on this set yet. But I like these a lot. They control the ring you might get on a birch kit and sound good tuned high or medium.

I love the Medium ride. It's got a nice wash and is great in more situations than it's acredited (sp?) for.

I'm still trying to ween myself off crash cymbals, but I haven't been able to. The closest I've come is moving my 20 K Cons. Med Thin Low over to the primary crash position, because it makes a lovely crash.

I love your setup and cymbal choices. The dark ride isn't my favorite because it isn't really what I imagined a dark dry K would sound like. It still is a good ride though, just a bit misnamed.

And the Const. Medium is my next ride for sure!

Very nice! I think having the kit outside makes the finish look even better. The cymbals and the snare are great as well! Good choice!

You have excellent taste in your cymbal selection. I have that same K Dark Custom Ride. One of the best rides I've ever had...and still have it too!

cool set. I love your cymbal choice. I especially like your new ride. Im a big fan of the constantinople series, and im going to make sure my next cymbal is an 18" const.

how do u compare the three rides that you've got? coz i'm planning to get the 20" K Custom Dark Ride soon. is it worth every penny?

It's definitely worth it Kari. Like Stu said, it's not as dark as it's made out to be. A bit washy but not too much and has pretty good stick definition. Great bell also.
