Outside of Wuhan's famous china cymbals, has anyone here tried or own the western style Traditional or S class cymbals (crashes and more specifically rides - medium/medium heavy)? Want to know how they compare to more standard offerings from Zildjian and Sabian.

I am bumping this thread, as I would also like to know.

I'm anxiously waiting for reports on this!
If the western style Wuhan cymbals are anything like the Chinese models I'll probably seriously consider getting one of their dirt cheap rides.

I have an 18" S series on the way. I'll be happy to report back once I get to play around with it. I currently play all Zildjians (K's and A's), but have 3 Wuhan Chinas that I love. If it's even moderately decent, I'm probably going to get a 16" as well.

Great Cymbals,
I own the following Wuhans “S” series

14” hats
16” crash
17” crash
18” crash
20” ride
18” China

I have been playing drums since 1964 and own several vintage Zildjians that I now use on my 81 Slingerland practice kit. Yea, likely the best bang for your buck but remember they are bright and loud and may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

I received my 18" S series crash on Saturday and have had a chance to play with it with both of my bands. I really like this cymbal! It is much brighter than my others. I have 2 Zildjian A series medium crashes (16" & 17") and a K dark crash (17"). The Wuhan is a nice contrast against them. I can't believe it sounds as good as it does for only $57. It also came with a 1 year warranty against cracking. It is a loud cymbal, even with fairly medium strokes. Both of my bands are fairly heavy, so it fits right in!

ok, i don't know if it's just me, but i bought these for practice and couldn't even stand them for that...they absolutely suck in my opinion. that's just me

i failed to mention earlier that i also have the splashes and chinas, which i wouldn't trade for any splashes or most chinas at the moment, i love them, the crashes though...eww, i havn't tried the ride

SOME of the traditional rides are very good for jazz. I would never buy a Wuhan before testing, they are all very different

Why does everyone go for the S series and not the Traditionals?

I picked up a traditional 16" crash and I love it. It's got such awesome white noise spread like an effects cymbal while having the response and decay characteristics of a typical crash. It won't work in every situation, but for those that it does it's a very unique cymbal that's fun to explore.

I picked up one of the crashes, they still have that trashy china sound, not my cup of tea.

s series got here today i was amazed at the quality of these cymbals

they sound great and look great too

hats are solid.. chick department is ok.. solid stick definition as well

crash- bright slightly trashy overtones with alot of sustain and attack

ride- sounds like a zildjian a ride.. bell and everything.. has a load of sustain

overall i am very happy with these cymbals and plan on using more of wuhans cymbals

hope this helps for everyone. ill post a video response later
