i have the same thing but its hammered. great snare.
Yeah, me too. I'd love to put them together, same heads and tuning, just to see how much the hammering changes the sound. Killer snare!

my main? oh yeah. the pacific mx snare sits in the corner collecting dust...i never really gave mapex much of a look until the black panther fell into my lap. i tunned up the drum and in 5 seconds i knew i wasnt leaving without it.

Hey guys, thangz a lot :) ooooh the sound is incredible, imagine the softnes of wood when playing ghost notes, and the power of the metal, when played rimshots! soon I will post some sound also :) Yeah I use it as my main, the next snare I'm planing to buy, will be the mapex black panther - but the birdseye maple, 3,5"x13" - and that will be killa combination! I can't wait to have them both :) My friend has the birdseye maple, but, 5,5x14 - so the same size I have my bronze one, and we compared it, the maple sound is kinda spred out, and it does not have as long sustain, but the sustain is intensive
Sound of mine, is more concentrated, and the sustain is longer, but quieter than the maple ones....yeah and that's it :)

just curious....but there seems to be a few black panther players now...and im wondering what ~number~ your snares are. there should be a stamp(sticker) on the inside of the drum with a hand writen number. mine says 21 of 50. interesting. anyone else?
