The timbales are great. high pitched, but tunable, so, fun to play with.

That's a pretty cool idea to put the ride there...

Thanks Dry_, the ride is the perfect distance away, easy to play and not too far to reach the bell, and I have a crash on either side and of course the toms are right there. Thanks for your comments.

Simply a beautiful set!
I'm interested in Taye. None in my area, but I will play some before my next kit purchase. Really want to check out the new pedal design shown at NAMM.
Good on ya!!

Very nice, Johnny! I still want to see and hear a nice groove with that Musashi along with the rest of the kit! I like the way you re-tuned it - a little bit lower so it has more body, but still high enough to crack.

ID, I just got my room back together, from the new carpet install, and I will work on a sound byte this weekend.

TB is that just paint? One of the pair seems to have some texture to it.

Yes, it is just paint, it was a rustoleum, hammered copper was the color, and yes, the smaller one accepted the paint the way it was supposed to. The bigger one the paint layed on a little flat in the area in the picture. if you notice, I also painted the hardware gold. I'm actually pretty happy with the result. They were about 10 yrs old so they needed a over hual anyway. The cool thing is, the paint kinda made them sound less like little metal drums and more warmer, like wooden drums.

Hey Gruntersdad,
Please post another front view of your kit. It appears you added some toms that may match your kit, can't tell from drivers seat picture. Also I love the color of your kit, can you take a more "up close" shot of you finish? Is it a lacquer or a wrap? no matter, it's awsome

here you go, Blue sparkle...wrap
The 8 inch and ten inch toms are Ludwig wrap, in blue but no sparkle.

Gruntersdad... I see you are using a DW pedal in your pix, am I right? I was refering to wanting to try out the new Taye XP Metalworks pedal. Did you get one of those? Super-adjustable.. But maybe too adjustable... More to go wrong on gig night.
Looks nice thought. http://www.tayedrums.com/welcome.php
Upon checking out the Taye site, the double pedal set-up I would want is close to $800.00... DAYAAMN! I'll wait 'til I become a big rockstar then get a bunch free with my endorsment contract! But for that to happen the '80s would have to come back so I'll have to figure something else out. $$$$$ :-(
Side-note... DUDE! I grew up in Seminole!! Class of '75, Seminole High. How long have you been there? Are you playing in a band there? I'd definitly make a roadtrip to see ya! Florida west coast is fun-living aint it?. Clearwater beach is so great. Remember Tiki Gardens? Skip's Beach Bar? The Tides Bath Club? Smoked Mullet?
PM me if you want or whatever and we could get together sometime over a beer or two... or five. My band of geezers is playing a bike rally this summer in Bradenton, I think... or is Brandon... Regardless, its not far by DW standards and I'd love to get together and tell lies! lol
THIS is what is so cool about DW!
Cheers!
And thanks for the compliment on my sense of humor on that broken stick post. I haven't broken a stick since... well, since the '80s.

Thanks for your comments.
First the 800.00 price tag for the Taye pedal is suggested retail. No one sells for that on any drum piece. I havent seen it in a store or website yet.
I live 0ne mile from SHS, and all of those bars mentioned are now history thanks to the rape of the beaches with huge condo's for the rich people up north that can afford two houses.
I have a DW pedal for a single, but bought a VEXdrums double pedal which I play once in a while. The pedal that came with my Tayes is OK but wanted something a little better and got the DW. We'll have to try and get together so I can show you what a real old geezer is.

I found the new Taye pedals at West Coast Drum for 197.00 and 461.00 for single and double. Compared to some its a great deal. This pedal was Best in show at NAMM. So now where near the 800.00 list price.
