your drums sound amazing dude. I like this kind of music, the only thing that I would suggest(unless its intentional) is tryin to improve your snare drum aim and try to get your hits more constent in the center of the drum. Good solid time and drumming.

Very clean, precise drumming. Loved it, great sound great ability with beats, tempos, timing and fills. The guitarist, and parts of the song reminded me of Jeff Beck and his many styles and bands. Just about as good as it gets radeq, keep up the amazing work,
cheers,

Oh and you can check out my band if you like, link found in sig. And again amazing job, and I also loved the horns. Wow that was wicked.

thank you :) that's the thing I'm trying to master now, because I switched from matched grip to traditional, only before a year and a couple of months..and it is diferent to hit the rimshots with the vinnie style than with the matched grip :D, but thanks for the advice!

Why the switch of grips?

when my new friend ( I met him 5 years ago ) started to teach me playing drums, how to hold the sticks and so... I was playing matched grip, the guy played traditional. When I saw it for the first time I didn't like it at all. I started to watch more and more drummers how they play...and now I have several favorite drummers - simon phillips, dave weckl, vinnie colaiuta, steve smith, jojo mayer, jack dejohnette, and only one of them is playing matched grip..so I decided to try the traditional, yeah for the first two, three months it was suffering..but then I got used to it, and somehowe, I don't know how, I get diferent ideas with the traditional grip than with the matched....I have more feeling for jazz, funky, and latino, the doublstrokes are easier for me to play with the traditional...and this is the story :)

Yep, that's the snare sound I'm looking for!
Thanks Radeq!
Did you do anything with recording effects, to get that sound, or is that just a simple mic on the snare?

nice drumming, you got a real nice groove, nice and swinging, definetley funky. I am having the same trouble with traditional, It'll be worth in the end I hope. I do kinda like the odd differnt sound out the snare though, I find it pretty funky.

Couldn't (actually could've) have said it better myself. Very nice playing. Practice rim paradiddle rim shots. Should help you ALOT. It helped me. Peace.. of pie

Good solid playing - I like the groove in last song the most....
As for traditional I couldn't agree with you more...I'm in the same boat and my creativity and overall approach has really changed since going to traditional - though I've still got work to do....
Only critique is not a fat enough sounding snare but you've already explained why....

Hey Radeq, as far as the missed snare backbeats go (when you hit the rim on accident) you should experiment with your snare angle.
I switched to (mostly) traditional grip about a year ago, and yes, it is hard to find the rim shot motion after 20 years of matched grip.

thangz guys :)
Stu - I've already found the angle of the snare which is the most comfortable for me - almost the same like steve smith has
And my rimshots are getting better, also the sound of the hit is more tight...and I guess it allready soudns the same like my right hand..I worked a lot on my left hand, and I'm still working
d.c.drummer - how do you practice thoes rim paradidles? which one is the rimshot?or you mean like the first one accented - and that should be the rimshot...
thanks once again, Im glad you like the music

Also, Radeq, I voted your snare as the best sounding recording on another thread, even with the occassional mishit rimshots ;-)

Radeq, you can switch it up. You can either rimshot on the first note. Rimshot on the last two. Its very hard to rimshot on the second (well at least to me) or you can do them all the way through. I play in marching band and my instructor wanted me to hit really hard on this solo so he sent me home to do that. Worked very well! A techninque i learned by pracicing is to to let the stick sorta fall and but at the same time press it into the drum letting it rebound of course). You want the stick to be almost paralell when you hit the drums. Hope i help. And again dude, you sound reall really good.

Nice playing, I really enjoyed it. Your timing is solid, you play for the song, and you have a great groove. The last song was pretty funky, I love it. Nothin' to cretique here. Great job.
I'm really diggin' that Black Panther. I've never really been a mapex fan, but that snare sounds great. I forgot, what kind of kit do you have again?
I also love that feel that your getting in trad. I started getting new and creative ideas too after switching from matched to trad. about 5 or 6 months ago. We pretty much have the same reasons for switching to trad. as well. Anyways great job it sound great, keep it up

thangz guys :) once again for listening and supporting with your posts
the snare is black panther black finish with golden hoops and rims - and ofcourse maple wood
Im the same - never liked very much the mapex drums, but the snares are awesome
I just changed head on my bronze one - I have 5,5x14 bronze black panther, and the sound is now more amazing, soon, In few weeks I hope will have another sound files with the snare and my new crash 18 AAX sabian dark crash :)

I am impressed mate! amazing work and your snare drum sound is amazing!! and I find it not so horrible that the hits on the snare drum sound all pretty different...just let the stroke out, let it come, if it doesn`t sound so even it`s not awful. just sounds natural!
good luck buddy!

That is an awsome good sounding kit. The snare drum sounds awsome. Also, what i like most is the sound ofyour ride. I like groovin on the rie myself and i thought your sound was very good. I also like your control of when to play meso piano, piano, meso forte, ect. Really nice triplets and drags. That is my kind of music right there.

Hey, thought i'd take a look after reading the anp27 thread. Good tunes and nicely recorded. Have to say though, that your playing was not quite as tight as i would have expected. Have only had time to check out the first tune, and you're not quite finding the pocket all the way through - there are some bass drum hits that are not quite swinging with the rest of the groove. Also, your rim-shotting isn't consistent enough. These are areas that shouldn't take long to clean up, assuming you haven't already.
