Hey gang,
I just found this old recording of myself and I figured I'd show everyone. It's me when I was 12 or 13 playing a song with my friend's older brother(who desperate enough to ask a 6th grader to record for him, I guess) and I was listening to it and just going "wow, all these prodigies make me at thirteen look pretty awful." It's kind of a depressing but I listened to the a few times and I'm actually tremendously proud of it. Mainly because I was playing with a click, I didn't attempt anything that I couldn't pull off decently and I kept a pretty consistent time feel. But another thing that I'm proud about is that you can tell I was trying to be really consistent and support the band. This is mainly because I had just learned about vinnie coliauta and I thought that the whole "he supports the song perfectly" thing was really attractive I guess. I definitely don't think it's perfect or amazingly awesome or anything, but I'm proud of it. :)

Wow I forgot about this. It was one of my first posts. I'll try and upload this link again. But let me listen to it to make sure the music is okay.
EDIT: oh god my double strokes were weird.
I'm having trouble changing iTunes files to an uploadable file.

I GOT IT TO WORK!!!!!
I'm pretty happy with this stuff, it definitely doesn't sound like a 12 year old I don't think.

Hey......12 or 13? That was ok man! Ya, a little loose band wise, but you did your job and sound pretty solid( I hate to use the "for your age" thing). What snare was that, it had a nice "chunk" to it! I'm very glad to see a young drummer understanding his/her role in the band, and not try to play every out of time chop they can come up with.........this healthy attitude of "support the band" has layed the ground work for the great drummer you are becoming! It's a neat documentation of then to now for other young drummers to see what is really important!

It was just a shite 20 dollar "rockwood" snare. I got really obsessed with tuning at an early age. I hope some of the pocket police check this out.

That is nice stuff mate...actually great!
Like this tune...your drumming is nice and solid. As HardcoreLogo said: You support the band well...like a good band drummer. :-)

Solid playing, it's rare to hear a twelve year old keeping time that consistantly.

I haven't had those drums for years. They may be somewhere in my parents house, but I'm not sure.

pretty good stuff m8. I'm assuming the singer wasn't 12 when he did this! :p where did u record it? It sounds pretty good apart from the guitar tone isn't really my thing. I also thought the band was pretty tight but it's not really a testing song to be perfectly fair.

Great song, JS! Great guitar parts and solid drums. I like the singers voice too. The guitar tone could have used some more juice, and the playing sounded a touch tentative... but all in all, its a wow.
