It's a japanese (not a newer mexican) Pacific LX 6 piece in cranberry.

the toms are the standard 10, 12, 14, and 16" sizes (the 16 isn't in any of the pics, i guess...)
14" snare
22x18" kick
all maple shells
also not pictured is my new(ish) tama 12x3" hammered steel snare drum... one word. LOUD

I have a gibraltar rack which I LOVE!
The hi hat stand sucks... it came with the pacifics. I'm busting ass playing gigs trying to replace all the pedals with DW 5000 series stuff.
The kick pedal is an old pearl p100 double. It's pretty OK...

16" sabian medium (that's all i know about it)

18" zildjian remix break beat ride (awesome cymbal for anything)

20" zildjian swish drilled for 6 rivets
20" zildjian flat ride drilled for 6 rivets
22" paiste 505 ride (monster sound, great bell and still thin enough to crash on :D )
16"/20" paiste trash set, usually mounted on an x-hat. sometimes i use the 20" swish with rivets instead of the 20" paiste trash cymbal.

I also have a bunch of cowbells and tambos, a djembe or two, a doumbek... other stuff

So yeah, I've been on this site for like a year now reading and watching videos (go benny greb!) I finally decided to sign up and introduce myself.

I'm looking for a set of 10" sabian micro hats if anybody has a set. And a cable hat too...

Very nice kit. I like how you have the cowbell mounted for the pedal to the left of the hihats. I want to do something like that eventually to be able to do some clave solos.

Thanks for the nice comments guys, it's been a kit years in the making...

Here's the secret to my cymbal collection... About 4 years ago I decided to buy myself a cymbal on every birthday. That's how I convinced myself to buy the flat ride, the swish and the break beat ride. Gotta get yourself something nice, right? Another Bday coming up on August 15.. any suggestions?

I'll post more pics once I get my digicam back from the friend who borrowed it.

The cowbell is mounted off of the rack on the same gibraltar cymabal boom as all the cymbals, it was cheaper than buying a gajate bracket... unfortunately, to keep the cowbell from creeping you have to tighten the rack clamp so much that it crushes the cymbal boom arm, which isn't really that bad of a problem since I use the same boom for the cowbell every time. The other problem is the pacific kick pedal i was using to hit the cowbell snapped one of the side towers and is now useless. Another reason why not to buy pacific hardware...

...Also the reason why I'm currently looking at replacing all the footboards with DW 5000 series stuff including 2 single pedals (for cowbell and electronic kick pad), a double pedal, a 2 leg hat, and a 6' remote hat (for the sabian 10s). And maybe a remote kick pedal if I can swing the funds to get a 18" kick from someone to set up dave weckyl style off to the right.

Hey, that was me! Glad to see you have the same addiction...unfortunately the doctor said there's no cure.

Love the kit and bronze garden. I listened to Sissy Strut (because the name rules) and it sounds great. Really nice feel - snare and ride sound awesome together! I was needing a little more bass drum, or low end in general from your kit. The cymbals sounded superb though. Great playing from all ya'll. I'll listen to the other tracks when I get a little time...

I was doubting anyone would...

The mics we were using were junk, and actually ended up getting destroyed that day when the keyboard player turned on the board's phantom power. They were those Nadys that come in a set of 4 snare/tom mics, a kick mic and 2 condensers. DON'T BUY THEM. They really make your kit sound like crap...

I'm now renting a set of sm98s, a beta 57 and a beta 52. nice stuff... The 98s are amazing mics.

And all of the PDP stuff is made in mexico now, well, I guess I'm like 97% sure of that anyway. They only made them in japan for like 2 years. The factory switch came at the same time that they changed all their colors.

The LXE line is just an LX with an exotic outer ply. Maple is exotic enough for me :D

These 4 tracks are my new band's demo.

The band is called "beat-down" and it's a progressive kind of funk/fusion thing... really hard to describe. We play some billy cobham stuff (which is hard stuff to emulate, so i don't try), soulive, jimmy smith... basically funky organ jazz.

I'm checking out Root Down right now. I was wondering what it was, then I heard it...Awesome! The toms seem a little to forward in the mix at times, but the snare/hats/kick flow really good for me. Actually the kick could use some beef, only my opinion thought. I'm a big Cobham fan, particularly Spectrum (right now), so I'm exited to hear some of that...Outstanding job though, very smooth and tasteful!

edit - I forget I'm listening on mediocre speakers, that kick is probably perfect. At least it's much better on "Never Been to Spain." Love the ride too. Nice high Cobham snare too...

I know my 10" tom sounds like crap on those 4 tracks. It sounded fine in the room, but on the recording that's how it came out. Sucks...

A few newer pics - taken today at band practice/jam session

I went home to my parents house and dug around until I found my roto-toms. I have the 14", 16" and 18" ones. The one in the pic is the 18. I have it tuned as low as it can possibly go and the sound it makes through the PA is rediculous. If you have an 18" roto and an extra Beta 52, i suggest you try it. Think 808 kick with a little more attack, and no electronics needed... it's pretty fun.

I love the new roc n soc too... it's the non hydraulic one with the spring base. Really nice. I actually noticed a difference in the smoothness of my groove today, the first time I had used it.

Anyway, let me know what you think of the current set up...

Dude, I love the style your band (s?) plays. Mercy mercy mercy is my favorite Buddy Rich song (and album), and soulive is great too. Great pocket man!

Great looking and sounding kit! Liked your pocket playing, but I was really hoping you would open-up and solo over the time a bit. That style of music needs a drummer to exploit it!.. But in a good way. Don't have to be Cobham-esque, just go for it. All great players in your band. Very tasty!

I wish i had the time and space right now to practice, but the only seat time i get is at full band rehearsals, so working on soloing techniques isn't a possibility.

Someday when i get a "real" job and have some expendible cash to put towards a rehearsal space I'll post some stuff with solos... but until I myself like what I can do in a solo situation, I'm not going to post any for others to hear...

The recordings I posted are in fact from two different bands. Each group of 4 tunes is from a different band.
