Pearl :D But i got lucky and got that off my mate for £30 with the multi clamp. The bass drum peice itself is £50 new!!!!! so ur looking at 70/80 all together!! ¬¬ bit of a rip off but its great! New pearl HH stands have the 2 leg option..my mate he has the 2 legged vetion... and they r great cos u can have a double pedal next 2 it...b4 i had bass drum 2 i had my double pedal inbetween my hihat legs and it wasnt nice to play... but peral make these and they r great!!! soz to blabber on :P

Hi dude!

ummm..its not an export... Blx and Mlx r the old Masters Series... this baby is a All birch shells... exports are a mix..but i can see tht its easy to get confused when pearl hav brought out the Elx ... but the E stands for Export... the B in Blx stands for birch :P this kit is bout 10 years old.

it is on there!! hehe The basic tom specs r
12" rack
13" rack
14"rack
16" floor
Old kits are just as good!! the only advantage about new drums is the rim mounts etc...the shells are still just as good quality!

There is a very slight difference between the birch used for the original BLX shells and the later birch masters and session kits, I heard that the original BLX kits were made from WILD scandinavian birch whereas the later are from farmed trees, dunno how true that is. I have been told this helps give the BLX it it's own unique sound, something to do with slightly different densities in the wild and farmed woods, and it also helps it keep more residual value over the years.
Been after a matching 14" rack tom for nearly 6 months now, none to be seen.
I was considering changing my shell mounted hardware for the optimount system, but the bolt on stuff on these kits keeps it nice and simple looking, less fuss etc...
KEEP THOSE SHELLS ROCKIN DUDE, GREAT KIT.........

thanks man!! :D:D yer i herd bout that!! these kits we made when vast forest grew..but all the new birch is grown qucik and fast for industiiral use..but sound wise, n e pearl can sound good wid the right skins and TUNED skins lol Well the only problem wid opti mounts is tht u will b left wid the holes unless u get coverup basdges or suming.. Ive been looking for a thurd tom for about 6 mounths 2!! there have been a few 10" on ebay but they went of like 200!! and i got my second bass drum for tht!!!! i got my 14" for £60!! :D:D awsome deal!! good luck on finding 1... ooo i think there is matching kit to urs on ebay atm!!! have a look..type in blx in the search box

haha I saw that the day it was listed, he won't split the kit though, it's got to go as one unfortunately. If I had the cash I'd snap his arm off to get it, I had to sell my secondary snare to replace a cymbal so I definately won't be getting another kit LOL

hey nice set, im jealous. That snare looks sweet, you must get one hell of a pop. But just one question i have pics of my own set that i want to put on a thread how do u start one like you did for your set?
Jay.B.
06-27-2006, 09:24 PM
Still looking sweet man, I think it's the whole BLX thing, no matter what finish you got on these babies they're fantastic. I would highly recommend getting evans EC2 heads on them though, ther's a sound clip on my kits thread to give an example.
I might be a little closer to finding the 14" tom I've been after for ever, will keep you posted on how things are going, and get new pics up as soon as I lay my hands on one

The snare sounds awsome! yes, its a popy/firey/cracky kinda sound and i love it...but im hopeing to buy a matching 14" x 6" snare that my uncle (who i bought this off) kept incase he got a new kit cos he loved the blx snare.
i will look into the evans skins! Im not planning on changing the skins yet, they r all is good conditions atm..no dents, rips etc..just stick marks but when i come to re-skin i will look at the evans heads! Good luck wid the 14" tom man! took me like 9 mounths to find mine :O :( but i finaly have it :D:D yay!

I mean alot of drummers from the 80's hair band music used setups similar to that, Carmine Apice, Tommy Aldrige and Tommy Lee(2) just to name a few. I also added your kit so you can see the similarities.
