i am actually planning to buy new set of cymbals but believe me the only cymbal out my kit i dont like is the Sabian Solar 18' crash/ride. I am certain ly happy with my cymbals and consider them the best I've ever heard. I will soon put up one of my videos so you can hear..

Well the set up is nice...but the cymbals look at bit 2 tiletd..and also get that hihat next to ur double pedal cos its too far from ur main playing area...surely to get to that hi hat ur ewither using the very very very end of ur stick or ur leaning way 2 much... The toms look at nice angles 2..but ui need to upgrade the cymbals so they are al the same brand and series...for example..all paiste 2002....

Why should he have all cymbals from same brand and serie.
I dont see why people limit themselvs to that.
maybe they want to pretend they endorse that company...

Take whatever gives you the "feeling",and if you dont want missmatching logos on top, wash them off !!

( just my 2 cents )

I can see same brand, especially if your sponsored. But same series? I wouldn't do that. You need a variety of sounds to be an articulate drummer with variety.

I have 2 Zildjian "A" series crashes, 2 Zildjian A Custom Fast Crashes, Zildjian 14" New-beat Hi-Hats, 2 Sabian Vault crashes, 2 Sabian Paragon crashes and a ride, Sabian AAX Hi-Hats and splash and 2 Wuhan Chinas and 1 splash.

I would die if I had to only choose 1 brand.

yeah the last thing you would wanna do is limit yourself to one type of cymbal...one company maybe but still. if anything have a wide range of sounds i don't know why on earth you'd want all the same cymbals although there are many different 2002s.

I think it's ok to use the same brand and series, if you really like it, for instance, I use all Meinl Amuns. But, if there is a special sound ur looking for, and the series doesnt have it, take another one. I use a Meinl Classic bell...

I DONT THINK you should use all cymbals of the same brand, not unless you have no big albums cos no one gives a damn about how you re playing or what you re playing.
The only thing you should care about is how it sounds..

I do, but I must explain, I'm not from India if that was the impression I gave on my posts. I just appreciate how hard it is to get good gear, from reports from various other members on the forum who are in your situation.

http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10559 is my kit. I'm from near London in the UK. Gravesend, to be precise.

Absolutely right on the cymbal sounds. It's the sound, not the brand or the price.

I love your kit man. Especially those little rack toms. Don't worry about getting some special type of drum or cymbals man. Get whatever you can and become the best player you can be. Then, when everyone hears and loves your playing, they will want whatever it is you're playing on. By the way, what is that on your hihat? Is that like a baby hihat? I saw some of those in the music shop yesturday. I must say I have no clue about them. Do explain. :)

You could've bought them and turned it into a 'look' but that's cool man. How did you find London? Cold I'd imagine! Double pedals nowadays are good enough to not really have to worry about the second drum but the double bass drums still very much have their place.

but i have no problem when u mix it all in wuid diffent splashes, rides, hi hate etc..just crahes mainly tht need to sound the same for when u go from one to the other

Actually when I bought a Mike Portnoy video I saw him using these litle splashes which sounded great. So i bought one, but it would have been crazy to spend more on a stand than the cymbal so I just took out the clamp of my hi hat and adjusted in this Orion splash. And it sounds great especially with 16 note grooves. You too might want to buy a splash, cause they are the cheapest element of the drumset and add another sound to your kit.

London was great .But about the drums once again, I do not think the people have a rational thinking. Imagine the five piece costed around 350 pounds and just the floor tom and bass drum costed 500 pounds. Now what logic is that?
And I wanted two bass drums FOR the 'look'..

Ah ok, so they weren't baby hihats. That would have been great. I actually saw a hihat stacker online, but could never find a place that sold one.

I have been drooling at the splashes in people's kits lately. I think I would like one or two in my arsenal.

You're absolutely right. Unfortunately rationality doesn't come into the equation at all. It's a case of 'special order' vs. 'production orders' obviously having a part of the kit made and shipped is going to cost more for each individual drum if they only make a few. That's why sets are so much cheaper in comparison to buying individual drums. Usually. In your case, it's because they are shipping the drums as whole sets, and to do so as a whole set is cheaper per piece than doing a couple of drums; which have to be shipped individually.

Then of course in come the taxes. VAT etc etc.

That said, you can still find some great deals on eBay if you have an account and people will ship to you etc etc. I'm considering using eBay in a few months to make some nice upgrades to my hardware etc. That said, it's not for everyone and I don't know how big eBay is in India.

Right, it would have been profitable to buy the whole kit and THROW or re-sell the the extra drums. Then the extra bass drum and floor tom would be arond 150 pounds( if i re-sold them). Imagine 150 pounds and 500 pounds for the same thing..

I do hot the lip of the block while playing. The block is lwer than my waist level so its difficult yo go that low. Instead I put the block at a 60 degree angle with the ground. So now I actually play withe th shoulder of my stick even though the block is not correctly positioned..

And this is my latest addition after seeing Thomas Langs twin effect pedal. This aint a twin effect but it is a pedal. What I did was that I took my pearl pedal (the single pedal I got with the kit) and put it further left to my two legged hi hat. I alredy had the clamp with which I attatched the cowbell and the block on my right cymbal stand. So I took the clamp and attatched it to me hi hat stand . It is pretty sterdy though the pedal rushes forward sometimes. Its relly cool in 16th note grooves where you play 8th notes on the hi hat and all the e and a on the block...
Oh yes I forgot to dust it so....

Very nice kit. To balance out the kit, I would move the second tom and put it on the base drum. Move the largest rack tom down and use it as a floor tom. This will give you more room to move the hi-hat closer to you. Just idea.

Well first they might seem very uncomfortable because you hi hat will have to be too far left. But that it is why I have such a weird angle on the highest tom. I have become used to it now. After a lot of thinking I conclude that three toms and 2 floor toms would be better.

Hey very nice drumkit, i like the finish.

Haha at the beginning of this thread I was so happy to find someone else using Solars and not saying anything bad about them. I bought a three piece set when I was a beginner and now that i'm better i want to upgrade but can't find a way to sell them off. Too bad you switched to zbts, we're no longer in the same boat haha

But honestly, how did you find the Solars? As trashy as everyone else says?? Or alright?

I personally hate the hihats the most, they're so choked. Ride is probably the best

Congrats on your kit!
