Ok, so here's some pics of my new Pearl Reference kit..
NICE, I'm in a state of envy! How much did they set you back? New cymbals too? What the Manhattan Ride sound like, I bet it sounds so good, but what hats (I know they're HHX) are they? They have a huge bell.
What's the other kit?
Haha, are you ever going to need the hats up that high? Is that why they're called hihats?

Thanks a lot! In USD, I think it would be like 5500$ , for the drums, hardware and new cymbals ........ :(
That's because here in Norway drums cost way too much... The Manhattan Ride sound very nice! The hats are HHX Groove Hats, very crisp, I like them a lot! And there's a 18" HHXplosion crash, also very nice..
The other kit is my old one, a Pearl ELX. Sounds nice that too, and I use that mostly when practicing with my metal band..

Very, very nice Reference series, lovely simple setup and a great cymbal setup too. You really are all set for everything. I thought that ELX was a higher end series like a Session at a long glance; lovely finish on that too. I know what you mean about high prices outside of America, not fun is it? Congratulations on two lovely kits.
I hate international prices. $5500 USD converts to approx. 7200 $AUD but probably would sell for 10000. But hey, if I get a kit worth that much, I'll pop over to the other side of the country and get me a nice set of Solid Jarrah Brady Drums! Dunno what I'd do for cymbals though.....
Yes, congrats on the 2 amazing kits (and cymbals..... I WANT YOUR CYMBALS.....and your kit..hehe)!

Wow, it is about time someone on here bought one of those things! Very nice looking kit. What is the blue kit in the background? (lugs look like pearl or yamaha, but I'm not familiar with that color).

Stu, it's an ELX in what I believe is 'Blue Mist Fade' stunning finish.

how's the bass drum sound? I mean, i know it sounds good, but do you think it has a large tuning range? Like, you could tune it well for jazz, rock, metal? Because i guess the smaller you get in bass drum size, the more compact and wet-like-attack-y they get? Just curious!

IMO they're better. They use a combination of woods (Birch, Maple, and African Mahogany) and bearing edges for maximum response and to make the "most acoustically advanced drums in the world"

I haven't had time to experiment a lot with it yet, but it sounds really amazing after just a quick tuning..

I've tuned it quite tight, so it has a really nice crack and it's very loud! It has a very cool timbale-sound when the snares are off.. Very nice
