I have a HH 20" medium thin crash, great to ride AND crash on, it's a really great cymbal

OOOH yeah!! The Sonor 2003 is great!! Finish is nice (wax!!) and the sound is nice, too...we`ve got a 2003 in the school and I really feel good always when I play this kit!!
great feel, like "my" second kit...When I decided to buy new drums I wanted to go with a Sabian Pro Sonix set, too, then I decided to take darker sounding cymbals, how do you like your Pro Sonix?

I'm not gonna lie, I hate it. It's pingy and ringy and has a really bad sound. I'm planning on replacing it as soon as I can.

I finally replaced my ride. HHX 22" Legacy Heavy Ride.

The ride sounds amazing. I had the Dejohnette Sig, Manhattan Jazz and many others all infront of me and I finally picked the Legacy after hearing it from the front of the kit. It has great definition and that dry sound I was looking for. The 22" goes perfect with my 20" HH Med. Thin Crash. Also, the ride sounds great when I play other styles like funk. It's a very versitle cymbal and it was worth the purchase. Thanks for the feedback thus far.

It's a great kit for just about anything. I use it for mainly jazz but when I have to play other styles it still puts out a great sound, the drums really sing.

Newest additions: DW 5000 hi-hat stand and bass pedal. New head on my snare drum as well. I don't really care for Remo but tried it out anyway and I was right, don't like it. I'm going back to Evans ASAP.

It's the coated Ambassador. It's ok but it chips away too quickly and it gets mushy.

awww man dont use coated ambassadors for a snare...i use them on all my toms, but they recieve too much of a beating on the snare(mines really tight, and i hit hard),id recommend aquarian texture coated ones, with a power dot...thats my choice man and it has the same type of texture etc as the ambassadors, but last a hell of a lot longer!!

I was going to try out the Evans reversed power dot or just the G1 coated.

the Aquarians have teh power dot on the inside(as in not the batter side of the skin)..dunno if thats a reverse or not?evans are alright...at the minute i use them on my toms...much rather ambassadors tho...ive had some hassle trying to keep the evans' in nice tunings...i had none of that same trouble with ambassadors...or the aquarian...
oh and when i say evans' i mean the evans G2 coated...sorry...your talking about the G1s??

Yeah, for my drums and my playing the G2's choke the sound but the G1's really sing.

I had G2's on my old kit which were bigger drums, but again with the smaller drums I have now, the G1's are the sound I'm looking for. What size drums do you have?

small sizes...toms are 10",12",14"...the evans geads just dont do them much justice...i just cant get over how good it is to play ambassadors tho...so maybe im just biased!!haha!

Anything sonor makes i'm totally down with! great kit steve. I like the ambassador snare heads but i agree - i just bought an Evans EC snare had and it KILLS! though i agree - i could never get a good sound from the control dot skins...
