Roberto Cerletti was born in 1988 in Basel, Switzerland. From the first moment of his life he felt in love with music. Growing up with strong Italian roots from his Neapolitan mother and the passion for music inherited from his father, an outstanding bass- and stick player.
Roberto joins only five years old a course for African drums and chant with the renowned percussionist Joseph Mataré. With eight years he starts to play the cello and continues the studies for three years. In 1999 at the age of eleven he still feels this strong rhythm pulsing inside and he knows he’s got to beat that drum.
His first teacher is Roland Fischer, one of the greatest and most motivating teacher on earth. After four years of intense study and a strong musical basis he changes to the Jazz school of Basel. There he studies drums with Benedikt Bürgin and Theory with Stephan Sieber. As he advances on drums and also studies classical piano, he starts with his first compositions which he establishes with his first band „incitatus“, a rock-oriented band that he founds with school friends in the year 2000. „incitatus“ plays various concerts and records some sessions as demo tapes. In the following years he joins various Jazz - and Latin groups and begins to play concerts regularly. After the obligatory school, Roberto enters the „Gymnasium“(Academic High School) and writes his „Matura“ (High School Graduation) this summer. In November 2006 he records his first Promotion DVD entitled “Nachklang” („Lingering Sound“). He then launches „DM66“ a „work in progress“ band that gives him the freedom of experimentation and the mélange of electronic and live played music.
During all these years he has been living a lot of highlights while visiting classes and workshops (Drums & Percussion Paderborn, X-treme drumcamp etc.) with many legendary and unforgettable drummers: Rick Marotta, John Blackwell, Martin Verdonk, Mark Schulman, Ralf Gustke, Dom Famularo, Walfredo Reyes jr., Joel Taylor, Wim Dykstra, David Garibaldi, Joe Porcaro, Chester Thompson, Luis Conte, Werner Schmitt, Chad Wackermann, Adam Nussbaum, Dirk Brand, Bill Bruford, Rodney Holmes, Thomas Lang, Benny Greb, Joel Rosenblatt, Jason Bittner, Jim Chapin, Fritz Hauser and many more Roberto has also been qualified for the prestigious X-Treme Drum Camp of the Modern Music School in Koblenz where he resulted among the first five for the Final of the Best European Drummer Contest.
After finishing school, Roberto Cerletti moved to California to study at the Musicians institute in Hollywood. Thanks to different scholarships he was able to attend the one year program at MI.
Simoultaneosly to his studys Roberto played more and more with different artists from the LA area. He ended up recording different albums (feelgood, raffaele diomaiuto trio, fabrizio novo, SAE, stereofox) and going on a one month tour with the Band „Within the Eddy“. As soon as Roberto was done with his studies at MI he had a network of musicians producers and managers, that got to know him and his playing, that allowed him to stay in LA.
Roberto performed with the grammy award winning country band Austin Law, Stereofox (that just recorded their debut Album „ice the symphony“ featuring Deron Johnson and Gary Novak), Fabrizio Novo, Feel Good, and he’s getting ready to perform with the persian pop stars Kamran and Hooman. He appears in the FOX TV series Dollhouse as a drummer and he’s is the house drummer for the ABC show Face the music. He had also the honor to perform one Song with legendary artist „Prince“.
2011: Roberto is touring with iranian Popstarts Kamran and Hooman.
